Meagan Navarro Bloody Disgusting Balagueró’s latest makes for a slick and breezy action-horror movie far more memorable for its gruesome high-octane thrills than its cosmic chills. Rated: 3.5/5 Sep 15, 2022 Full Review Juan Jose Cruz Cine Premiere Although it plays with various interesting genres and ideas, Venus doesn't know what to make of them and becomes a pastiche without identity and full of pretension. [Full review in Spanish] Rated: 1.5/5 May 6, 2023 Full Review Samuel Leggett Jr. JVS Media & Productions/Team JVS Venus is a very strange horror/sci-if/thriller. At times it has a really important message about devotion to family & others it goes full science fiction once the suspension of disbelief is thrown out the door. Rated: 7/10 Dec 28, 2022 Full Review Dolores Quintana Dolores Quintana VENUS is a super solid horror film that is a cut above most Lovecraft adaptations. By taking the story and making it his, Balagueró uses the free-floating dread of Lovecraft to explore the life of a woman who is forced to reckon with her own recklessness. Dec 28, 2022 Full Review Ana Karina Villegas EscribiendoCine With a truly interesting denouement comes a genre reveal, notwithstanding, the overall result is a bit cumbersome, lacking rhythm and sense, due to the many preceding storylines. Lloyd S Calling a horror this movie is an insult to the entire genre. First, there are no jump scares, nothing scary at all, just blood and messy plot about witches eating girls and trying to resurrect some kind of spirit of pain or whatever. Guess the screenwriter imagination is very limited to think all these is enough to make a movie scary. Second, the backstory is all summarized in few seconds, when Lucia finds the newspapers. Very poorly written... What a waste of time, in my opinion. Also, the music selection makes the movie stupid... Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 05/29/24 Full Review Audience Member I dont know what to think about this one. I could think only of one word: chaotic. In a good way and in a bad way too. There's much going on. The ending was... hard to take seriously. But overall good. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 05/22/24 Full Review Kevin M This was Intense and Excellent Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/08/24 Full Review g j Fairly mediocre and forgettable. Seemed to lack the budget to embrace where it needed to go. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 04/09/24 Full Review Read all reviews
