Oct 17-24, 2020. Enjoyed my 1BR unit on the 8th floor. Small deck to look out over the pool and ocean. I requested a coffee maker and they brought one right up. Isabel at the front desk was wonderful! The bed was comfortable and maid service very good. The room had a standard size refrigerator. It was quiet at night for sleeping, street sounds did not keep me awake. The only negative I thought of was the two televisions did not have access to CNN & Fox News. CNNE was in Spanish. There were many stations, but mostly all in Spanish. Covid precautions: upon entering the hotel for the first time I was tested with a thermometer and given hand sanitizer. Thereafter I wore the wristband that was placed on me at registration and I never was tested for temperature again upon entering the hotel. Staff was good about wearing masks. At pool side guests did not wear masks which did not concern me. Friday through Sunday the hotel and pool were busy with many guests and children that came from other parts of Mexico. There is an ATM booth almost completed with direct street access that will be convenient. I enjoyed my stay and would enjoy returning to this property.

Oh his vacation was so much fun, the rooms are nice. They have activities everyday from volleyball to yoga. The servers at the pool bar are nice and thoughtful. The food and drinks are very good. They serve breakfast at the restaurant and on Saturdays and sundays they have an all you can eat buffet for only 12 dollars and the food is great.

Great place to stay. Specially if you like to walk and eat out on local places. But if you want to venture into the Malecon or other touristic areas, just step outside the hotel and grab a Pulmonia. The local open taxi with loud music at your request. You can drink while riding them. Have them stop for a refill if needed. Plenty to eat and drink near by. The service and the food was excellent. They make an awesome ceviche tailandés that I wanted to try a second time. This was recommended to us by the restaurant manager Jose Ramon Nuñez who made sure we were taken care of as special guests. The food and drinks were great. The room was nice and clean. They arranged the rooms for our occasion with a bottle of wine and fresh fruits. The service lady was very attentive and helpful. I’m planning my next trip for February when el carnaval de Mazatlan is taking place.

The staff is so nice and friendly, they really try to make this a super place. The pool area is delightful, the activities people were most helpful. The room however was a different story. It was SO damp that there was condensation literally dripping from the ceiling. When we called housekeeping and maintenance, they mopped the floor and changed the settings on the A/C, but we wanted the room warmer. The only way there was no moisture was to run the A/C colder than we wanted, a crappy choice. There was mold on the walls it was so damp. It would have been a nice room. The bed was comfy, the layout was nice, the kitchen burners worked well. But the dampness and slick floor as a result made for an uncomfortable week. In retrospect, we should have gone somewhere else.

This is a tale of two places. First off the grounds, pool, and bar/restaurant are outstanding. Great food and drinks at reasonable prices. Walk down a few steps and you are right on the beach. It couldn't be better. In fact even if you don't stay here, it should be your daytime go to beach bar hangout. Now about the room. Although we stayed here last year and everything was ok the room we had this time was run down and not very well maintained. Our room had black splotches on the wall which I hope wasn't mold. The toilet was broken and we had to manually operate it when we wanted to flush it. The worse part for me was that the air conditioner thermostat was locked on a certain temperature and fan speed and could not be changed. The room was actually too cold at night. To make matters worse the one and only elevator broke down that day and we had to climb four flights of stairs to get to our room. On the plus side I did sleep well in their beds. I would like to give Costa de Oro the benefit of the doubt and attribute some of their troubles to the Covid pandemic. We also booked a room on Saturday night which is their busiest day and maybe the room we had was the only one they had left. A better choice would be to book the one bedroom suite which is in a different section with it's own elevator. Those rooms are very nice and have a balcony and ocean view. My advice is to book your stay starting before Friday and you're likely to get a much better accommodation.

This hotel has a ton of Mexican charm, decor. Check in was quick. Hotel is very dated and in desperate need of repair, elevator floor felt spongy and scary. Rooms are about 20yrs past the need for upgrading. Very simple ,couple beds, a chair,t.v. safe in our room did not work. When we first arrived we did not pay for the all inclusive program. Service was great at the pool, not the best selection of drinks. We made the mistake of paying for all inclusive and had our bracelets switched to a different color. WOW! the service around the pool seemed to stop, waiters would walk right pass us and clearly favored guests paying for drinks . We also quickly found out that all inclusive does not mean all inclusive. The bar menu was a mess, no distinction between what was and wasn't included. Restaurant was buffet but the staff handled all the food. Like school cafeteria pointing at what you wanted so they could scoop it on to a plate for you. Very limited selection as well. Bout a dozen items, very awkwars dining experience. Ala carte restaurants seemed closed everyday during our 4day stay. We found ourselves dining out away from the hotel (as most guest seem to as well) I dont think this hotel should offer all inclusive, quite misleading and definitely not worth the upgrade. Beach was nice but awkward to get to and not at all private. Area is fantastic. Hotel is probably 90% time share. Felt quite uncomfortable not being in that category

Staff are amazing at this small hotel which consists of around 18 rooms all facing the small pool (unheated). Our room was over two floors, the bedroom being upstairs, not all rooms are the same as our friends room was on one level. There are no lifts. Clean bedlinen and fresh towels were changed each day. The shower room combined with the sink and toilet tended to get wet as there was no shower door - it was a wet room, which was ok. Breakfast was nice but due to flooding several weeks earlier the flooring was very lopsided but am sure this is on their priority list to repair. The staff, especially Athena (spelling???) was extremely helpful and went above and beyond, helping to book restaurants and car transfers, poor girl worked very long hours but always had a smile on her face. It would be a great idea to offer 'Happy Hour' as the bar area was generally very quite in the hotel. Luckily Happy Hour can be found in most bars around 8 minutes walk down the slight hill in the town. I wouldn't hesitate to return due to the excellent staff.

We had a few MAJOR problems with the room, making it unacceptable.
The air-conditioner fan was like a jet engine. We contacted maintenance, they came to the room and were unable to turn the fan down. Unacceptable!
The door lock and or frame was all messed up. We were unable to engage EITHER deadbolt lock. Completely unacceptable!
The hotel was super noisy, with people yelling and screaming until well after Midnight.
They wanted to brand me with a wrist band in order to come/go from the hotel. If the security guard can't see your wrist band, he chases you down like a stray dog. Unacceptable!
This property needs a lot of work to be competitive in it's class of hotels. I would NEVER stay here again.

We enjoyed our stay at Costa de Oro very much. Wonderful beach, great location with plenty of nearby restaurants, very clean and exceptional staff. If possible, try to avoid end units that pick up the street noise. Music and activities around the pool were quite noisy. Pool deck needs to be refinished. We chose this resort because All-inclusive was optional. Our kitchen was very adequate. We did eat at the snack bar and in the hotel restaurant a few times and were happy we did, just didn't want the same every day.

Older but well maintained. Quality customer service at reception, concierge, and pool bar. Eduardo, Jesus and Raul were excellent and very friendly. Claudine in housekeeping was friendly, efficient and very good at her job. Pool deck needs to be refinished, pool was warm, and they do have activities throughout the day. Alejandro the bellhop was very welcoming and helpful as well. Enjoyed our 3 week stay.
