Date: 1886-1987
History: Originally known as the Municipal School of Art. From 1920s became the Medway School of Art & Crafts. 1952 the college was re-named Medway College of Art. 1970 became Medway College of Design. In 1987 the Kent Institute of Art and Design (KIAD) was formed by the amalgamation of the Canterbury School of Architecture, the Canterbury School of Art and well-established art colleges in Maidstone and Rochester. Kent Institute of Art and Design and the Surrey Institute of Art and Design merged in 2005 to become the University College for Creative Arts. After gaining accreditation in 2008 it became the University for Creative Arts.
