Frank Sinatra's widow Barbara has dismissed the suggestion that Mia Farrow's son Ronan could have been fathered by the legendary singer. Now living partly in Rancho Mirage, Palm Springs, Sinatra told the Desert Sun local newspaper it was "a phoney deal".
The former model married Sinatra in 1976 and they remained together until his death in 1998. Ronan Farrow, who was born in December 1987, was presumably conceived in March of that year. Barbara Sinatra, 85, was apparently unaware of the speculation surrounding her former husband, but told the Desert Sun: "I can't hardly believe that. It's just a bunch of junk. There's always junk written — lies that aren't true."
She pointed to the fact that Sinatra left nothing in his will to Ronan Farrow; the will also specifically states that, outside his three known children, "I have never had any other children."
Mia Farrow suggested in a Vanity Fair interview that Ronan, 25, may not have been the son of her then husband Woody Allen; Ronan, formerly known as Satchel, is also estranged from Allen. Allen's representatives were quick to pour scorn on Farrow's claim, telling AP: ""The article is so fictitious and extravagantly absurd that he is not going to comment."
