Closing out the month with a look #InsideSAB and rehearsals for another ballet on the 2024 Workshop program: the 3rd movement of George Balanchine’s TSCHAIKOVSKY PIANO CONCERTO NO. 2. This extremely challenging ballet involves complicated footwork, difficult partnering, turns, jumps, the works! With many simultaneously moving parts and a large corps de ballet, SAB faculty member Ms. Killian, assisted by Ms. King, is taking care to focus on all the details when rehearsing this piece. Its energy practically propels you out of your seat and we cannot wait for our students to dazzle you at this year’s performances.

When SAB alumna, former NYCB principal dancer, and current Paul Taylor Dance Company Resident Choreographer Lauren Lovette was asked to create a new ballet on students at the School for our 2024 Workshop Benefit performance, she took the opportunity as a chance to go back to her roots and celebrate what first sparked her love of ballet.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Watch our recent interview with Ms. Lovette to get the details on the inspiration behind her new ballet, what she loves most about working with SAB students, and how her own SAB Workshop experience was pivotal to her development as an artist.
