It was a good high school overall I never had many problems with the school it was a very positive experience. The best part of my experience was the environment and students, I got along with everyone and the majority were very kind despite me being the only Arab kid in the school. The worst experience would be some teachers that were just bad apples but it doesn't speak for the majority of teachers in the school who were very kind and good at what they do. What I'd like to see change would be that the principals and upper management would hear out some of the students' complaints and make changes.
I really do like Affton high school! The teachers are (for the most part) really sweet and have your best interest at heart, they are people you can have deep and meaningful conversations with and I enjoy the classes the school has to offer. I have participated in many clubs, sports, and activities and I always have fun! But I still do have issues with this school the administration can be less than stellar to deal with sometimes and I have had my fair share of negative experiences with the school. Frequently there are broken pipes, leaky roofs, mold, and often construction due to asbestos. We did have a few lock downs this year but the administration has gotten a lot better at handing them and they did hire security guards after the first lock down. I do think it is a good experience to go to this school and they do genuinely care about their students, you just have to be prepared for a few bumps in the road!
Affton is a close-knit community where everyone knows each other. I think that's a pretty cool thing that we have. The only reason I didn't give it a five-star rating is because of the COVID years. I feel as if I would've gotten to experience my high school career without a pandemic it would've been excellent. I would like to see a change in school events and school spirit. It's been lacking because of poor management after they took away all the fun events the school used to do. They use COVID as an excuse to take away all the fun.
