I found this book to be excellent in teaching empathy to my students. The English rose is a group of friends that enjoy one another's company and have many enjoyable times together. They do not like one girl because she is so beautiful and appears to have a perfect life. These friends, learn the important lesson that everything is not always what they think they are.

I love how Madonna includes the right amount of "cheekiness" in her fairy godmother character. It adds a layer of sarcasm to the story that makes it a hit with my teenage students.
