Great high school just not the best safety, after school ends school gates stays open with nobody guarding it, for clubs or sports. Anyone can enter the school and cause danger. Don’t have cameras in the back gate in case of anything either. Aside from that, counselors are super kind and helpful and all teachers are kind and so far from the ones I’ve had, I’ve had a ton of support from them and learned a lot, especially math!
Wonderful dedicated principal. Career and college center has been extremely informative and helpful. Sports could use a lot of improvement.
I was transferred to Alhambra High School from Korean middle school. They processed my paperwork so well. They provided me classes upon my level, so I was able to quickly adopt to my new environment and focus on studying. The teachers were all nice to international students. I felt welcomed and was very happy to make new friends.
If you want to get a better experience in Alhambra High you should join more clubs and sports, you meet a lot of other students and may have very good experiences , well at least that was my experience with this school.
I think it is an average school overall, but the general feeling around the school seemed lackluster. I feel that Alhambra isn't focused on anything but average. They do not thrive in any sort of categories. It seems to have the highest focus on ensuring students graduate rather than actually learn. My opinion may be thwarted based on being a covid year and the teacher may have had difficulty adapting to the change.
Alhambra high school is a well diverse school with a teachers who teach very well and go above and beyond to make sure us students have a good understanding on whatever they are learning .
My worst experiences probably include my experiences with my physics teacher, the bathrooms, and the school administration being sort of weird in general. I sort of just have a decently good time at this school with some occasional inconveniences. I'd like to see the school district take much more action on the vaping and bathroom quality problems and I also want them to replace some teachers and improve the math/chemistry department.
We have just started the second semester, and we had to deal with 2 lockdown already. Alot of my teachers are unhelpful, and unaware of the constantly changing bell schedule.
Alhambra High School cannot be considered particularly good or bad. There are some teachers that truly go above and beyond to help students with their education and wellbeing while others go slightly above the bare minimum. The restrooms on campus are alright when they're available, but sometimes are not available for student use for a variety of reasons. There have also been a number of false fire alarms throughout high school as well as many lock-downs. From personal experience, I had a relatively quiet time. Nothing particular good or bad happened to me during my attendance and I have nothing major to complain about.
Throughout my time at Alhambra High School, I have gotten the opportunity to experience so many things. The best part of Alhambra High School is definitely our school spirit. Our school comes together when its most needed and is evident in all our clubs, sports, and activities. In the beginning it was definitely hard to adjust because people don't really tell you what to expect going in other than academics, so it was a rough start for me. After a few years, I found my people, my place, and belonging. Alhambra High has changed me for the better and has allowed room for me to grow academically and personally. Once a moor, always a moor.
Throughout my 4 years experienced with both distances learning and in person studies. Alhambra high school has switching my life to be better. Nonetheless, as a student that have involved to various activities in school and attend to different AP and Honor classes. I has exposed to different training on and exposed many essay that have shown my perspectives about social issues and personal perspectives. I can offer some insights about experience of school. School has improve much better by giving workshops, training specially for the teachers and staff to be able to improve school quality of teaching. One of the concerns that students may have in Alhambra High School was workload, cause as a Senior, amount of works should be specify, having jobs and college application outside of works was stressful.
Alhambra High School is pretty decent, by no means the best, but decent. The teachers and staff make valuable efforts in understanding and helping students. Aside from that, everything else has room for improvement. There are sometimes opportunities and resources shown, like mental health resources, conferences, events, etc. but I wish it more accessible and made known to students more. I think students could really use a way to find resources or whatever they need, since the pages can sometimes be cluttered with information. Also, I believe there has to be more done to improve the work ethic at this school, and a larger emphasis in providing more help to those not considered college-ready.
The experience overall is very eye-opening and a learning experience. People who go to AHS are sometimes the funniest, interesting, and genuine but are very hard to find. Connections with people in this school were difficult to accomplish. Everyone wants to be someone else and act like someone else. I've seen so much unneeded drama, people are so desperate to know about other people's lives, their lives are so boring that they mess with or get involved in someone else's. But other than that it's okay I guess... The sports aren't the best, the food isn't the best, the dances aren't the best, prom was terrible, and field trips are terrible, but at least there's a wide variety of AP classes. There are also tons of clubs to join. If you're a smart kid and want to be something important in life, this school can help you get there. Some things I love are the number of people at this school, and so many new people to meet/make memories with giving more opportunities to meet someone cool.
Life at Alhambra High School was really easygoing. I moved to Alhambra an year before attending Alhambra high school and was scared if the teachers were going to very strict and not as caring as it was at the other school district I was in but I was wrong. My time at Alhambra high school was fun and full of many experiences. All of the teachers wanted you to do your best and really tried to form a connection with their students. Their teaching was always easy to understand and I was able to pass the classes easily with their help. Although I will say the student life is kind of tight knit but once you join a club you’ll feel like apart of the school! All of the other staff at Alhambra high school are also as caring and are such interesting people to get to know. They are always promoting many opportunities for students such as job openings, college field trips, mental health workshops, career workshops, and more! I can’t find anything that is wrong with the high school.
Overall a good school. Although some classes are lackluster and some AP classes do not prepare you well for AP exams, in general they provide a sufficient education and can help you on the path to success if you are willing to put in work. Most people here are good people, but it comes down to what kind of people you decide to surround yourself with. The worst part is the huge vaping issue: every time I step into a restroom, I am surrounded by a candy or fruit flavored cloud. The campus security clearly knows about this issue and "prohibits" vaping on campus, but does nothing to stop it.
At Alhambra High School, there are so many opportunities to be involved. I belong to so many clubs that all include different interests. The courses available are very broad that it can suit the needs of all kinds of students.
During my time at Alhambra High School, there are many different things that I enjoyed about my experience. Ranging from the school work being realistic and many of my teachers using real world scenarios to help us to problem solve. Another pleasure was the teachers, staff and counselors. Most of them when coming to school work are very down to earth. They are totally understanding in everything, as much as I see them as teachers, I also see them as an amazing and caring friend that is there for me when I need it.
Now something that I would change about Alhambra High School is 2 things. First being the school lunches with a lot of them not even being that well made. Some of the food makes your stomach hurt and more during classes after eating it. Lastly, the cleaning side of things. Although the school is somewhat clean, there are still lots of very dirty areas. Especially in a post-pandemic world we should really be careful on how we take care of our school not only but of ourselves.
