Is there an actual alternative to Deviantart?
Is there a way I could find a nice internet community oriented site where I can post my art?
It is since 3 months straight that I try to find a way to find a Deviantart alternative in 2023. My dream is to become a succesful online artist and be in a community. Deviantart was great 10 years ago, but since Eclipse, AI art introduction and its spreadth, it became soulless and desert.
I'm currently here, loosing all hopes. There is no viable alternative:
-
Artstation discriminated between "verified" and "unverified" artists. It even killed itself by allowing AI art;
-
Pixiv is mostly Japanese and too anime. I hate anime and I draw my own style. It's also full of AI and p*rn;
-
Artfol is forgotten by the vast majority;
-
Cara is just for professional artists and it's unknown by most;
-
Artnoodle was founded by a literal pedo;
-
Side 7 is another forgotten site;
-
Inkblot is a buggy beta mess;
-
Artspacious is the definition of "all show and no go": it isn't out yet, but they are always blogging about what the site will look like and stuff, but they didn't even bother to reveal the release date;
-
Instagram isn't made for art and there are accounts just for AI pics;
-
Tik Tok isn't made for art either and is the cause of the dopamine era and steals data from minors;
-
Twitter has always been garbage and is now dying.
What's the point of making art if I can't show anything online as I dreamt? How could you survive this? Is there a chance?
Hate to break it to you. But at this time there is no art site with a large enough audience to match DA, you’ve listed other sites that DEFINITELY can give you the traction your looking for. But there is no site like DA. There’s no underground art website that can pull you DA’s engagement numbers either (expect of course mainstream social media)
If there was every artist would be there already.
I hate everything.
I’m sorry friend. I’ve been on da since 2012. I can assure you if ANYTHING remotely better comes out / happens the internet would explode. It’s just extremely frustrating and hard with the flood of ai art, and the minimalistic approach all websites are aiming for.
I feel like we will eventually have ‘another’ DA. But in the mean time it’s more profitable to match tags on other platforms, that way you can start a following / have others introduced to your art
Oh god I feel like I could've written this post. I have the exact same problems with all those sites (except for Pixiv, since my art style is very anime-y, it might work but I'm a bit scared because of the language barrier and the lack of tag blocking) . Personally I was never able to get any traction on DA either, since for some reason my TF2 stuff just kinda flies under the radar there. The only place I was ever able to get any traction on was Tumblr, but it's got the same problem as Twitter to me. (And AO3 but that only applies to my written stuff, not my actual art.)
I don't know how to help, but I can tell you, I feel the exact same way and you're not alone. It's discouraging as hell to just scream into the void.
I do know another website called Newgrounds, and another one called Side7.
...Wait, you've gotten all the alternatives you can find handed to you on a silver platter, and it's not enough for you to get yourself out of your own cage, despite the fact that Deviantart itself also has a flaw as well?
Stay in your cage.
Ai art is great, embrace it.
Robot alert
Pixiv is not all about anime i’ve seen non anime art on there plus it is in English and not just Japanese
Perhaps it's time to build your own website ?
Because if you really dislike all the ones you have listed, i doubt there will be any large community that will meet your needs.
We're doing our best at making a new fresh platform to share art but with some limitations. We don't allow AI and NSFW for example which's a big no for many users but a plus for others who are trying to stay away from it.
We don't have an as large community as dA but we're working hard on making it a better alternative:

Follow our updates:

We also have a few posts on dA talking about our platform:

https://www.deviantart.com/wyvernswingsstudios/art/Are-you-guys-tired-of-Deviantart-1040951399
Our TODO list is really ambitious and over time we'll implement everything we can.
Feel free to give it a shot 😉
I thought it was a site only for dragon related content. Is any kind of art welcomed? (I'm looking for a site that I can use as a gallery for my paintings and illustrations)
Pretty much, yes. Usually we allow any kind of art EXCEPT for any *ish or *ore or AI or Adult, that will be removed.

I never said that.
You sound like a woke libtard. Every home for artists gets destroyed.
I feel like the minute someone says "libtard", they lose any credibility or benefit of the doubt they may have been given.
Libtard is wild. Bonsai soil has point, a lot of people do have “necessities” that are ridiculous. I doubt that they were calling you out tho
Pixiv is the only place with many audience, and many DAer are fleeing to it now, and it is not just Japanese, and even it has AI art they have the folder feature so those crazy "I submit 30 similar AI gens in 1 go" guys only show up as 1 group in the search results, unless they intentionally submit individually

They weren't defending AI you fucking weirdo
What the hell is wrong with you why are you so angry take a fkin chill pill dude you're so rude
Sadly it isn't any place. On X a lot of artists will say "this site" or "that site" but the truth is that there isn't any one that is like dA
I wanna die.
You're the third person to ask this exact question verbatim. The first one deactivated (banned perhaps? I know I did something.) and the second one is u/garnet_the_summoner. Luckily for you, Side 7 is going through a massive remodeling, so it turns out it's unforgotten.

They would have to do something wrong first.
That's rather oddly specific.

You're probably a pedo.
Attack of the Clones for sure, it's the same person, same interests (same bad art too, lol)
I'm like the Beast of Géuvadan. I'm going to eat your head off, Da Vinci!
The only sites I see now but you got to have an invite codes is Toyhouse.and Characterhub, Another one that is just for Ocs is Unvale there is no Ai at the moment there but you can look forward to getting just likes there maybe one or 2 comments. I won't say it's over for artists yet, but the old days of DA are over for sure. Your going to have to do AI over there now because that is the only thing that gets noticed.
I don't want to draw just OCs.
Ok I fgured that I just wanted to show you these extra websites to check out. Good Luck in your journey.
A jorney that is getting pointless.
Sketcher United?
There is almost no fanart.
This post was shared with me on my journal called deviantART Alternatives [UPDATED] which I've been updating for almost 3 years now. People are trying to make a new "deviantART". But making literally an entire social media is a HUGE undertaking from both a product and business perspective. Imagine trying to make 5 games at once, that's what I imagine it's like for the active developers. Personally, I think it'll be worth the wait for a good site that's well built. Being overly negative about every site will not help you find traction if you are not willing to give them a shot first. If nothing else, a well fitting Discord community can be a great source to share your art in the mean time. There are all kinds out there, that can be searched within Discord itself.
I'm genuinely interested and excited to see this development, if there's even a slight chance of creating a lovely space for artists again, i'm sure people would come running for it! Also respect to you sir, the commitment to update your journal for others to see, now thats a supporter right here!
I'm really excited about Sheezy because it's bringing back so many things I loved about old deviantART. Public registration is going to start opening up on March 1st at 7pm GMT to 250 people then it'll open weekly!!
thanks for telling me this big man, would've missed it otherwise 🤙
This makes me miss oekaki/paint bbs boards. The simplicity and how there were regulars and no one did it for money they just did it for their hobby and to connect with others and, if requested, help critique.
Back when oekakicentral.com/traininggrounds was booming, OCS as well as fan art
Ahhhh yes sips wine
"Pixiv is mostly Japanese and too anime. I hate anime and I draw my own style. It's also full of AI and p*rn"
"Too anime"
Anime is shorthand for animation so basically you're saying you dislike Pixiv because it's "too animation" which makes no sense. Also ( and I will put this in all caps) ANIME IS A MEDIUM NOT AN ARTSTYLE. It's just animation like Disney or anything else geez. why do people HAVE to be ignorant here?
