Damon Lindelof (b. April 24, 1973) is an acclaimed television and comic book writer, best known as the creator and showrunner of the mystery drama series Lost, The Leftovers, and Watchmen.

Professional History

Damon Lindelof is an American screenwriter, known best as the co-creator and showrunner of several critically acclaimed television series, notably ABC's science fiction drama Lost, often considered one of the greatest television series of all time, and HBO's supernatural drama The Leftovers, a critically renowned series with a dedicated cult following.

After The Leftovers wrapped, Lindelof began working with HBO on Watchmen, a superhero drama series that would act as a standalone sequel to Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons' celebrated comic series. Bringing over some collaborators from The Leftovers, including director Nicole Kassell and actors Regina King and Jovan Apedo, nine episodes were produced and aired in 2019 to widespread acclaim. However, despite the success of the series, Lindelof left his position as showrunner at the end of the first season, stating he had finished his intended story, and HBO confirmed they had no plans to continue the series without Lindelof working on it in some capacity.

Watchmen was reclassified from an ongoing drama series to a limited series with possible future installments. It won eleven awards at the 72nd Primetime Emmy Awards, including Outstanding Limited Series, and Outstanding Writing for a Limited Series for Lindelof's work with Cord Jefferson on the episode "This Extraordinary Being". Tom King's comic miniseries Rorschach took place in the continuity of the series, with King even talking to Lindelof to make sure he hadn't made any continuity errors.

In 2024, DC Studios head James Gunn announced Lindelof as a writer and producer on the upcoming series Lanterns, and that he had written a pilot episode with Tom King and showrunner Chris Mundy.
