Reviews
- Old New Orleans style jazz a plenty of this LP...Bobby blasts out on the cornet along with a stellar group of musicians...He was on wax everywhere for years and was one of the prime arrangers for the massive library of Jackie Gleason orchestra records...Gleason didn't read a lick of music and Hackett was his link to all the musicians in the sessions...Such an interesting sidebar on this album as the liner notes talk about heading downstairs on Melrose for some grub...See, Capitol was at 5515 Melrose next to Paramount Studios until they built the classic record building on Vine Street...AND it later became the home of KHJ-TV and KHJ Radio...AND I worked in the TV traffic department when I was a late teen and twenty year old scheduling commercials...Years after I left I discovered all about Sinatra and so many recording greats who did their thing right where I used to sit making certain Cal Worthington commercials hit the air correctly...VINYL does tie so many things together all the time...
