About streaming software for Facebook Live

This feature is only available on a computer.

Live Producer lets you use streaming software to share experiences in real time with your audience. Go live on Facebook with streaming software to broadcast a conversation, performance, Q&A or virtual event.

About the Live Producer dashboard and stream settings

In the Live Producer dashboard, you can monitor stream metrics, view insights about your live stream and create goals to share with your viewers.

You can use Live Producer’s Stream settings to:

  • Allow your encoder to end the stream. Your Live video will end when Facebook receives an end signal from your encoder. If a backup stream is enabled, this setting won’t apply.
  • Choose your video’s Stream latency. Stream latency is the delay between a video being captured and it being displayed to viewers. You can choose to turn on Auto, Normal or Low latency.
  • Embed your live video. Get an embed code to insert your Live video on any website outside of Facebook.
  • Unpublish after your live video ends. Unpublished posts are not visible to the public. People with Facebook access to the Page can still see the unpublished post and insights.

About Live API

Live API lets you stream live video directly to Facebook profiles, Pages, and Groups from a video encoder, camera, web or desktop app. The stream key and server URL allow you to send a Real-Time Messaging Protocol (RTMP) output from the streaming software to Live Producer. Facebook live streaming requires RTMPS which is encrypted for security. As long as your app can produce a live RTMPS stream, you can stream to Facebook using Live API.
