I really enjoy Northern Highlands. It is an amazing public school with plenty of opportunities to expand your education both in and out of the classroom. There are plenty of upper level courses for a wide range of subjects, and there are numerous clubs, volunteering opportunities, and other organizations provided that serve as great ways for students to get involved.
With that being said, I do wish there was even more room in our schedules to take even more electives (personally, I feel students get little to nothing out of freshman seminar, for instance), and being a bit more flexible with graduation requirements.

I personally wasn't the type to be too involved with the school. There are a lot of cliques within the school, but I do feel like that settles a bit once you've reached senior year. Some of the students can be mean and a lot of them do some questionable things, but there are a few good people. The school is in a wealthier area, and as someone whos family doesn't have that kind of money it can be hard seeing others flaunt their belongings or lifestyle. The teachers are nice. Once in a while, you will come across a teacher who does not seem to want to be there and doesn't always treat the students the best. I have had some pretty great teachers though. A lot of the time it seems like the students don't want to do their work and want their work to be done for them. As a student who does everything by themselves and to the best of their ability that can be frustrating. Academically the school is good, but the people can be hard to get along with.
I had an overall successful experience at Northern Highlands. I was able to maintain good grades. I had many fantastic teachers that I plan to stay in contact with for years to come. In retrospect, my earlier years were harder, but as I ventured into junior and senior year, I realized how ready I am because of what being at the school has taught me.
