Well maintained park with an easy 4 mile walking/biking trail along the 1700's canal and the pretty Blackstone River.

We were here for an event, so did not explore as completely as we will another day, but this facility was wonderful and met all our needs. The Visitor Center has a little museum and the staff were so helpful. I am somewhat mobility impaired and when I needed to move to a different part of the park, they shuttled me quite willingly. Bathrooms were clean and large enough. The little museum and the signs outside were very informative about the canal heritage in the area. It's a wonderful place!! Highly recommend whether for a short or all-day visit.

I’ve been walking at Blackstone River and canal for over 25 years. The scenery is lovely all seasons of the year. There’s something about walking along a waterway that soothes the soul. I recommend this park to anyone looking for a relatively short and peaceful walk among nature. No traffic. No crowds.

we love to walk along the canal and go to the little visitor center. there are always people fishing and we have stumbled upon nature talks a couple times. at the far end is an antique store just on the edge of Uxbridge so that is a nice destination.

We were tired of traveling/driving and looked for a place to walk in the woods or along the river. We found the River Bend Farm (Uxbridge) in the Blackstone River and Canal Heritage State Park. Interesting history displays in the museum, easy walking and biking along the old canal towpath. The Towpath trail was 1 mile to the end where an old factory sits; then a mile back to the River Bend Farm.
It was a Sunday, with people in kayaks and canoes on the canal, Quite pleasant, mellow -- and just what we were looking for as a break from the road.

visited here as I have been to many national park areas and wanted to see what this one had to offer, as for the canal itself, water does not move much in it, lots of turtles sunbathing on the dead trees in the water. did about a mile walk one way from the river bend visitor center at the heritage park as they share the same address to the stanley woolen mill. wasn't over impressed but found it enjoyable to walk at. if i lived in the area i could see this as a place i would frequent often to walk peacefully along the canal. the stone arch bridge heading away from the farm was even better, lots of people fishing here. as for the visitor center on site, you really need someone working the desk from the national parks that know the area and the surronding area, asked some questions about spots not far away and what i got for information was it looks like this on the wall and points to a picture.

This is a beautiful relaxing place to appreciate nature. Activities you can enjoy here are walking, running, fishing, mountain biking, boating, picnicking or just resting.
The River Bend Farm Visitors Center has restrooms and brochures on the first floor and a small but very interesting museum about the history of the area on the second floor. There is a handicapped accessible elevator to get to the second floor. A park ranger is available for any questions you may have. The facility is open 9 to 5 and there is no admission charge. Pick up a brochure for the self guided tour for the Blackstone Canal Towpath Walk. At the Visitor's Center there is a two mile heart healthy level gravel trail that follows the canal which is part of the Towpath Walk. There’s quite a bit of wildlife including a huge variety of birds as well as a canal lock on the path.
The grounds are kept very clean. The Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation do a great job here. Be prepared to take all trash with you when you leave as there are no trash containers. Everyone is responsible for their own trash. There are doggie waste bags and a waste container for those bags. There are plenty of picnic tables and grills available as well as benches to rest on. The wide open fields are great for kids to run around on or play games.
I often bring my kayak to the parking area on Hartford Avenue near the stone arch bridge and kayak on Rice City Pond. It’s very peaceful and all flat water. I often see herons, ducks, otters, plenty of turtles and fish. You can also put your canoe or kayak in at the Visitor's Center.
I highly recommend this park for all travelers, solo, couples and families. A visit can last a couple of hours or all day depending on what you want to do. Bring your camera, comfortable walking shoes and water to drink. I visit often as I live in the area and it never disappoints!

A beautiful, sunny 68 degree day in February made the park even better. Lots of people enjoying the trails as well as the small welcome center. We stopped at several other locations along the Blackstone Corridor and enjoyed reading the histories. A map is available in the welcome center.

Would we be able to push a baby stroller on some trails?

The only trail that you can push a baby stroller on is the "Heart Healthy" T0wpath Trail that follows the Blackstone Canal. You can access this trail by parking at the River Bend Farm Visitor Center entrance to the park on Oak Street., As you enter the Towpath Trail go to the right and follow the path as it runs parallel to the Blackstone River Canal. You will end up at the Cross Street entrance of the park near the Stanley Woolen Mill. The other park trails especially the ones that are across Hartford Avenue will not support the use of a baby stroller at all.
