Lovely view of the water from the screened-in porch. Having the full kitchen made the stay very enjoyable and we used the BBQ grills as well. This is a great place for people to come with their boats on trailers and the parking has long bays to accommodate that and there is a boat ramp right next door. This is a great location in town and the lady in the office was very good at suggesting different boat tours, which we did partake in and had a blast. Good time!

Two couples visited Everglades City for the first 2 weeks of November 2021. Stayed in clean, spacious one bedroom cabins with large screened in porch, galley kitchen and free wi-fi. Our units were newly remodeled in bright colors, the appliances appear to be new, and everything was sparkling clean.

Cable tv has lots of channels.

Staff was extremely helpful. Large boat dock, free boat ramp, parked boat trailer under unit. Swimming pool 150 yards from front door.

Each cabin has queen bed in the bedroom and a sofa bed in the living room. Two bedroom/ two bath cabins are available.

Property caters to fishermen and families with lighted, stainless steel cleaning table and complimentary bicycles, canoes, and fishing poles. There is a bait and tackle shop and guide service next door and three restaurants within a block if you don't want to cook.

The galley kitchen is adequate for cooking anything short of Thanksgiving dinner or warming up your restaurant leftovers.

Staff gives fishing tips, directions, area attractions with a smile. No daily maid service, but will exchange linens whenever you want.

Onsite coin laundry lets you handle travel laundry while you enjoy your morning coffee watching the sunrise from your screen porch overlooking Lake Placid.

We will be returning here every year for the foreseeable future .

River Wilderness Waterfront Cabins is a series of 14 waterfront one and two bedroom units. The entire building is elevated about 10 feet off the ground. This gives a better view of the water and offers some protection against storm surge during a hurricane. We stayed in unit 13, a one bedroom unit.It cannot be overstated just how much River Wilderness puts function and utility above other consideration . While not beautiful or stylish our room was spacious
and well designed for its purpose. Each unit has under unit parking with room for a car and a boat trailer. The living room and dining room are well sized. The full kitchen lacking only a dishwasher is a galley configuration
with a window looking out on the screen porch. The screen porch was comfortable with a lounge chair and a dining table with four plastic chairs .Every surface was clean. Inside and outside this room was spotless. Even though the rooms appear to be a little rustic from the photos I can assure you that number 13 was as clear as any 5 star hotel I have ever stayed in. For our three day stay there was no maid service but used towels could easily be exchanged for clean ones.I would not hesitate to stay here in the future.

After reading reviews, I selected this property for my wife and I to stay. Check in was a breeze, got info on a delightful boat tour, and parking proximity could not be better. The property is perched right at the waters edge, just as promised with a neat little porch overlooking. The place was absolutely spotless, truly neat as a pin, AC worked ideally and the kitchen actually had full size appliances (not those college dorm units). Look, nothing in this remote and fascinating area is full luxury, but this place served every expectation and beyond. In all, our stay at River Wilderness was absolutely ideal, and a bargain even if it had been more expensive. Totally recommended.

Just stayed here for 3 days. The cabin was more like a one bedroom apartment and had a great patio and view. The staff was great and always helpful. Directly on the water with good fishing and one BIG gater to unhook unwanted fish. Town was quaint several places to eat and enjoy happy hour. We did a 45 minute airboat ride which was neat. We used Everglades city airboats. Trip was enjoyable and relaxing. Don’t forget the mosquito spray.

In the midst of the pandemic, we hooked up our fishing boat and our two dogs and went to River Wilderness. The unit was clean and comfortable, kind to our puppies and we had a fabulous time taking the boat all over. Worth noting that we don't draft much, so we could get out even when tide was low. If you draft more than a foot or so, you will have trouble getting out or in at low tide. That can be a problem. That noted, we were able to take the boat to several good restaurants, fishing holes and out to the gulf where we swam au naturel because there was no one else anywhere. We already made a reservation to return.

Dear Miss Jennie, Thank you for your kind review. I am so happy you and your puppies were able to enjoy the 10,000 Islands of the Everglades National Park! You are so correct in warning boaters of our low tides. They can be tricky!! It is good to hear you will soon be a repeat guest. Thank you again for your review and for choosing River Wilderness as your Everglades place to stay.

Situated at a nice location right on the river and a large open waterway, this is a wonderfully rustic place to stay in Everglades City. There was plenty of room in the cabin, it was well appointed with everything (and more) that we would need, and clean. The large screened back deck provided a scenic view over the water and the Everglades from where we saw dolphins, many pelicans, osprey, lots of fish jumping, and plenty of undetermined critters - all in wonderful and serene silence. Thank you for giving us New England'ers a good helping of true Southern hospitality!

We stayed here for three nights for a family visit to the Everglades. We enjoyed our time at River Wilderness. Like the rest of Everglades City, this hotel is no frills, but it works. On the first afternoon there we saw dolphins from the deck. The swimming pool is a 5 min walk away at a neighboring hotel but the pool was great. We accidentally left some items in the unit after checking out and the management was extremely helpful in getting those items back to us. We would stay here again should we ever pass through Everglades City in the future.

I can't say enough about the kindness of everyone at the River Wilderness Waterfront Villas. They truly made us feel like family. Bruce, seriously the coolest nicest guy around helped make our stay fantastic. He gave us some fishing tips and we know when we come back we will try to have him take us fishing. If we're lucky enough. The view is incredible and the gigantic screened in porches can't be beat. We are so sad to be leaving and we know we'll be back.

My husband and I come to River Wilderness both in November and March for 2 weeks… and the place keeps getting better & better! Rooms are being remodeled, staff is friendly and helpful, cleanliness is top-notch, and the waterfront view of the Everglades is amazing! We love sitting on the screened lanai watching numerous birds and other water critters. If you prefer a quiet, relaxing place to spend your vacation… RW is recommended! The town has quaint restaurants with great seafood… and we love the local Museum. We visited the museum in Nov 2021 for a historical presentation on the early days of settlers in the area… very well done!
