Rollins College has a great community feel! Because the campus is relatively small, you see your friends and professors when you walk around campus. The food is great- students of all years eat most meals at the dining hall and the staff and faulty also often eat at the dining hall. There are plenty of dining options besides the dining hall as well, some that are open late. All the the staff is so nice! Lots of opportunities to get involved in research! The campus is BEAUTIFUL! The majority of student live on campus, tend to be pretty competitive because the dorms are so nice. There is currently a housing crisis, but that is supposed to improve after summer 2024.
Rollins is ultimately a mediocre private college masquerading as a respectable giant. Courses have ranged from utterly forgettable to truly stimulating with very little room in-between. Student life is very segregated, with Greek life participants living in a completely different world then non-affiliated ones. The school is extremely gossipy and it is impossible to forge your own path socially, as you must integrate or be ignored. It's common to hear the sentiment that "College is what you make of it", but at Rollins, you are pigeonholed into what they want YOU to be. The food is extremely mixed quality, and the dorms are either decaying buildings or bougie apartments. Everything is unpredictable, and the only truly redeeming parts of the college are how close you can get with your professors and how accommodating the school is to individual needs. Apart from that, there is not really anything remarkable other than how beautiful the campus is.
I am a student-athlete here at Rollins and I am studying business management. I love everything about the school, the only downside is the cost. I love the student life, my team, and the town's atmosphere. The food on campus is good and the education has made me learn so much with smaller class sizes. I want more food options on campus and I would also love it if they would put more money into the athletics here, we don't even have our locker room for women's lacrosse. Overall, the school is gorgeous and I am getting a great education.
