A most enjoyable morning session wandering about the area looking at the various attractions as well as the interesting ships. The area caters for all tastes and one could spend the day there with a fist full of fish and chips just watching the ships coming and going.

This is quintessential Hobart - walking along the dock looking at the boats and stopping for fish and chips - it is a seriously great way to spend an afternoon. If the weather is good you can look right up to the Organ Pipes on Mount Wellington - beautiful.

Constitution dock is an iconic scene of Hobart. It is also the location of the origins of Hobart. It is an area worth walking around and exploring. Several walking tours such as YouDo Hobart leave from here. There is an assortment of boats, accommodation, dining and plenty of sea air. There are great opportunities for photos as well with several landmarks in the area.

I love walking around Constitution Dock for the smell of the sea, the often perfect water reflections, and for the look of the variety of yachts and other boats moored inside. Along one edge of the Dock are a number of on-water fish shops selling fresh fish of all kinds, or cooked fish and chips etc for taking away or sitting on nearby benches and eating. Overhead, seagulls may whirr creating a fresh and alive feel to the place. This is one of the docks into which the racing yachts of the Sydney to Hobart annual Yacht Race rest between Christmas and New Year after battling the seas on the east coast of Australia.

Great spot to wonder around and linger for a while. There are several fish and chip shops, fish restaurant, coffee shop and ice creams. This is the finish for the Sydney to Hobart sail race, home to a working fishing fleet, home to several historic boats, sailing boats and cruise ship terminal nearby. There are lots of restaurants in the near vicinity. One of my favourite spots for a lunch of fish and chips, sitting outside, glass of nice wine and watch the boats, people and seagulls.
