Now you can experience free high-quality programming from home with the launch of TPL’s Live & Online programs.

Programs for everyone each week

TPL’s Live & Online programs are delivered daily (Monday to Saturday) and include programs for all ages.

What's on this page:

 

For Kids (10 am-12 pm):

Kids can explore and discover something new with TPL’s Live & Online programming, including online STEM activities, author visits, workshops and more - coming soon.

Our on-demand collection of Ready for Reading Storytimes are available any time and feature popular stories, songs and rhymes performed by library staff so you can sing along at home, have fun and help build early literacy skills. Find out more about Ready for Reading programs for kids 5 and under.

 

For Youth (4-6 pm):

From online research skills workshops, homework help and cartooning tutorials, to author Q&As, competitions and mental health tips, we’ve got you covered.

 

For Adults (1-4 pm and 6-8 pm):

Watch and Engage

Our signature literary series, The Appel Salon, hosts local and international authors in conversation about their new books and big ideas. Register and watch on Crowdcast to submit questions and participate in the online chat, or watch the live broadcasts on YouTube.

Read and Discuss

Connect with other readers and discuss books together virtually through interactive Facebook Live chats and online discussions. Check out our virtual book clubs on Goodreads and in our Facebook Group. And join the 2020 Reading Challenge! Read or listen to 12 books and then participate in online book chats.

Learn and Create

Learn digital skills at home with our online innovation classes! From intro courses on Python and HTML, to collaborative podcast workshops, our expert Digital Innovation Hubs and Pop-Up Learning Labs staff present programs to help you learn and create at home.

How do I access online programs?

Explore and discover upcoming Live & Online programs at tpl.ca/programs. Sort by your interests and find new ones along the way. Search our categories, series and program groups to discover upcoming events. Each listing will have information and a link directing you when and where to watch.

The library's main broadcasting platforms are Crowdcast and Jitsi. You can also find our programming streaming on our social media channels, including YouTube. These platforms have been chosen with privacy, security and ease-of-use in mind. 

 

Do I need a library card to access Live & Online programs?

No, you don’t need a library card to access Live & Online programs. Programs are free to everyone, whether you have a library card or not. Some programs will share information about linked TPL collections, digital services, educational opportunities and other services for any Torontonian with a TPL card.

If you don't have a library card, you can still access our OverDrive collection of ebooks and eaudiobooks with a temporary digital card!
