As a student that currently attends Arundel High school i would say my school is the best within the county overall in terms of diversity, inclusion, sports and clubs. Our school makes sure that there is something for everyone to be involved in and all of our teachers care about how prepared their students are for their future whether that includes college or not.
Before the previous principal moved schools, I got the help I needed when I was younger through him, and sometimes by him personally. After the new principal came, it seemed as though she was intentionally ignoring the problems I was having even after the guidance councilor spoke with her and the behavior eventually led to my parents pulling me out and homeschooling me.
My experience with Anne Arundel County Schools has been lots of ups and downs. Some changes I know should be changed is the administration. I had an advisory teacher who told me "If you are wearing a crop top, you are asking for it." and I went to the principle about it and nothing was done. To my understanding swell, the music department at my school specifically is lacking in every aspect, and has since wrecked students dreams of becoming a music teacher or going into that field. But, with immense gratitude, I can say I have met teachers who have and will continue to change my life forever, some who have gotten me out of the darkest points of my life, and I am forever in debt to those teachers, who genially saved me.
