I've sent three kids here. Overall an amazing, life-changing experience for the kids both academically and personally. The school prepares the students for college (many graduates have gone on to Ivy League schools and the like); but more importantly, it teaches kids to be good citizens and to take care of and participate in their community. My kids are all athletes, and the soccer, basketball, lacrosse and baseball programs in particular strive for and achieve excellence. The basketball program has had student athletes go onto the NBA; soccer is developing strong student-athletes for top-notch colleges. Go 'Town!

Review Westtown School

The student environment at this school, especially for day students, is very unwelcoming. Lots of newly admitted students already have connections with existing students and students new to this school often have a hard time making friends due to the strong exclusiveness of the friend groups. Bullying is common and is generally ignored by faculty. Admin is incompetent and disciplines students with bias. Academics are mediocre and not worth the large tuition each year; courses are unchallenging and easy, even "advanced" ones, hence students usually need to study a lot if they even want to have a shot at taking an AP exam. Athletics are emphasized over academics, but the athletic program is below average due to student burnout and the requirement for all new underclassmen to play a competitive sport. Lastly, the school advertises 600 acres of campus but students are restricted to a "top of campus" boundary of less than 100 acres, and the rest of the campus is not used by most students.

I've really enjoyed my time at Westtown. The food is better than its been in the past. Admin and faculty can sometimes be frustrating and security aren' the nicest. The buildings are old and historic but they're not great for learning in. I love the community and the easily accessible resources. Teachers are always willing to help and I've met lifelong friends.
