With supernatural intrigue and tangled family affairs, Dark Shadows swept audiences off their feet with its fusion of Gothic horror and melodrama. First airing in 1966, the television series solidified its cult classic status through innovative storytelling and unforgettable characters. With an ever-changing cast of vampires, ghosts, witches, and other mystical beings, it's no wonder that the talented Dark Shadows cast played a crucial role in crafting this enchantingly haunting universe.

Diving into Collinsport's shadowy past is exciting because of the cast who brought the show's characters to life. Each member of the Dark Shadows cast embraced their roles with passion and flair, resulting in a tapestry of beloved heroes and loathed villains who have become a part of popular culture. From noble vampire Barnabas Collins to scheming witch Angelique Bouchard, these memorable figures have captured the hearts of fans.

The lasting charm of Dark Shadows can be attributed in large part to the roster of performers who took on these roles. For example, Jonathan Frid portrayed the troubled Barnabas Collins by infusing his character with vulnerability that endeared him to audiences despite his monstrous nature. Grayson Hall exuded malice as Dr. Julia Hoffman while also revealing layers of humanity beneath her diabolical ways. As for Alexandra Isles, she delivered a multifaceted performance as Victoria Winters - both innocent ingénue and inadvertent time-traveler - adding mystery to her enigmatic character.

During the 1965–66 season, Clarice won an Obie Award for Distinguished Performance as Sara Calendar in The Exhaustion of Our Son's Love. Blackburn had extensive experience acting in the soap opera genre. She played a baby nurse & a college dean on the CBS soap opera Love of Life in the early 1960s. When her appearances on the show began to lessen, she gladly accepted the opportunity to create the role of Mary Lou Northcote on the CBS soap opera The Secret Storm during the first half of 1970. Blackburn made a few additional appearances on Dark Shadows, making her final appearance in September, 1970.
