From the welcoming team at the entrance, through the route to check in, the hotel is welcoming you with kindness, calming soft music and lovely furniture. The team at Front desk is supportive, kind, efficient and ensures a swift check in procedure and adds to the welcome feel. Once in the lovely room, spotlessly cleaned every single day one can relax, work and and plan for how to explore the lovely Tokyo city. In the mornings, at lunch and dinner, the staff in the restaurant are attentive and serves you with elegance. It is a lovely experience from entry to departure.

I liked this hotel in my past stays as I reviewed previously but it has clearly gone in the wrong direction.

Overall I believe it is still a good deal. Unfortunately out of their control is the location. It is 15 minute walk to the hotel from Shinagawa station and while there is a shuttle bus it is not always convenient. Obtaining a taxi especially during rush hour or during inclement weather can take up to 30 minutes (I was late for a meeting and had luggage so no alternative (could have used Japan Taxi App).

But within control of the hotel is their service. During my 3 day stay my desk table had sticky remnants of food and what I am guessing is soda that was never cleaned. The bathroom floor was also not cleaned. The service while polite and staff trying hard, was not up to standards of a 4 or 5 star hotel in Tokyo - I am guessing because the staff seemed young and inexperienced comparatively. I called for room service but my call to Service Express button went unanswered for 5 minutes.

On a positive note, the breakfast is very good with a nice juice station and fresh egg and waffle station. Quality of the breakfast food is better than many local hotels.

Overall for the price of the hotel for what you get is a bargain. I would recommend if you are patient, have extra time - basically on vacation but probably not for business.

The Tokyo Marriott Hotel has long been our haven in the bustling metropolis, earning the title of our preferred choice in Tokyo and our most-visited hotel across Japan. It stands as a paragon of urban tranquility, a consistent reminder of why we return.

😍 So Good:
Buffet Breakfast: A veritable feast offering a medley of local and global flavors to start the day.
Suite Comfort: Expansive and serene, the suites boast deep soaking tubs and an array of thoughtful amenities.
Club Lounge Excellence: The Club Lounge delights with its array of fine food and beverages.
🤟Attentive Staff: Every need is met with a smile, reflecting the hotel's commitment to guest satisfaction.

🙁 Not So OK:
🚌Shuttle Service: While complimentary, the shuttle can be a waiting game during peak times.

👌 Just OK:
Off-Center Location: Requires strategic planning to access Tokyo’s bustling center.
👴Time's Imprint: There's charm in its character, though a modern makeover is due in spots.

💡 Tips and Recommendation:
Loyalty Luxuries: Leverage the Marriott Bonvoy program for additional benefits.
Concierge Insight: Rely on concierge expertise for local guidance and logistical needs like airport luggage transfer.
Gotenyama Garden: Embrace tranquility and beauty in Gotenyama Garden, an urban oasis perfect for capturing the essence of Tokyo's seasons.

💖 Conclusion:
Our choice of the Tokyo Marriott is beyond a mere preference; it's about the value it brings to our travels. Words may fall short in capturing its full allure, but the experience awaits to speak for itself. We hope it becomes a cherished part of your journey as it is in ours.

As the title states, it’s a Marriott. The company is known for the consistency around the world and this hotel does not disappoint in that endeavor.

The staff were friendly and the standard rooms are large which is welcomed after a full day of shopping. Decor matches the expected aesthetic. The rooms are a little older.

The restaurant buffet was good as well, although a little on the pricier side. I would recommend.

I had a two night stay at this property and as a Bonvoy Titanium was "upgraded" to a corner room. It faced the train tracks and was not high enough for me to not hear the trains rumbling by (but not loud enough to disturb my sleep).

The room looked like it hadn't been touched since the hotel opened and really needs renovation, especially the bathroom - I haven't seen a tub/shower combo with a plastic shower curtain in a hotel of this category in many years.

Where this hotel shines is the excellent lounge, which serves a generous, bountiful buffet in the evening and is staffed by friendly, hard working ladies who kept it well maintained. The breakfast in the restaurant was also excellent, a diverse buffet of excellent quality.

It's close to Shinagawa station and although it's not far, I used the shuttle, since it's not a particularly nice walk.

I would return but only after the rooms have been renovated, as there are many nicer Marriott family properties in Tokyo.

I have to say being a Marriott titanium member I have never had such a bad experience at a Marriott property as I did at this property. The rooms were sub-par old and dated, the check-in staff tried to tell me that my reservation was not valid and I had to pay a higher rate and the bar in the lounge is straight up rude and in un-accommodating.

If you ever have the displeasure of meeting Mrs Takizawa, In the restaurant I wish you luck. She will basically tell you to F off with no hesitation if you do not fit her program. Quite possibly the rudest Marriott employee I have ever met.

So forget about the fact that you are kind of in no man’s land at this hotel. Somehow they managed to make it a 20 minute walk from this property to anyplace in one of the busiest cities in Asia. Inconvenient is the rule for this hotel.

They will put you in a room where you get to listen to the sound of trains roaring by all night in addition to the rude service. The fake Upsale attempts and denial of your 4:00 PM checkouts just make the place unbearable.

There are at least another 100 reasons to avoid this property but life is short so I will let it pass. Just take my advice spend the extra 50 bucks to stay somewhere else and actually enjoy your time in Tokyo. It’s a great city w great people this property does not represent the true warmth and caring of Japan

Hi

This Marriott is about an hour and a half drive from the Narita airport. If you hire a private car through the hotel, it’s going to cost you about $300 USD after converted from Yen. Additionally the gym is not in the hotel, it is directly next to the hotel.

Cheers,
K

Thank you so much for staying and sharing your recent experience at Tokyo Marriott Hotel. We sincerely apologize that we could not meet your expectations during your stay with us, as well for the location inconvenience from the Narita Airport, due to the long distance the taxi fare is quite elevated. However, we have a Limousine Bus service which the cost is cheaper than a taxi and the pickup is accessible at the main entrance of the hotel. As well we regret to read that the access to the fitness center could cause any inconvenience. We really appreciate your honest feedback and we fell short for not having the experience and service that you worthy as our guest. Nevertheless, we hope you could consider Tokyo Marriott Hotel on your next visit to Tokyo so that we would better deliver upon the guest experience you deserve. Once again thank you very much for staying at the Tokyo Marriott Hotel. Shigehisa Hirasawa Front Desk Manager Tokyo Marriott Hotel

It was a few years since we stayed at this Marriott and it looked almost the same. We still had to catch the shuttle to the hotel from Shinagawa Station. The bus looked just like one of the city buses so that was confusing initially since we expected to see one with the Marriott name on it.

We were upgraded to a one bedroom suite and it was quite spacious though the furnishings seemed a little dated. Since this was our last night in Japan it was perfect since we decided to spend the evening and most of the next morning resting before our flight home.

The bathroom had lots of useful countertop space with separate shower and toilet. The marble flooring in the shower was a concern and we had to be very careful when it was wet and not slip. Not sure why they chose polished marble for the flooring as there was not traction.

The lounge had nice views and served snacks and drinks all day. The afternoon tea was quite light but at least the evening spread was a little better. We opted to eat breakfast in the first floor restaurant with it wide buffet selection. It was as good as before and we enjoyed the fruits, pastries, Japanese and western items.

As for other parts of the hotel, a Family Mart (?) was in the basement of the adjoining office building so one could buy snacks and drinks. A small park was in the back, had a couple waterfalls to enjoy but seemed a bit overgrown with paths that were closed off. The gym on the first floor was functional with dumbbells and cardio equipment.

Service overall was good especially in the lounge where we spent a lot of time.

I booked a Deluxe room as a Marriott Gold member. I’m quite used to no upgrades from Marriott but at least welcome points and late checkout were acknowledged.

The hotel features a free shuttle to Shinagawa Station. This is convenient and useful as it’s a bit of a walk especially if you have luggage. Note that the shuttle does not feature any hotel livery and appears similar to a regular bus so make sure to keep an eye out on the displays.

The room itself was very nice. I’ve stayed at Marriott’s main competition in Tokyo and I personally found the room here as the best among them. I noticed that the king bed was actually two smaller beds pushed together. This is not a big deal to me but for a review I’m not going to ignore it.

I’d like to comment regarding location and competition in Tokyo. Shinagawa Station is a major station but it’s not particularly compelling. I personally don’t do much there but take the train elsewhere. A few of Marriott’s main competitors are in frankly more interesting locations such as Shinjuku. If you’re loyal to Marriott, want a nice room, and prefer a quiet location then this hotel may suit your needs. That said my completely honest opinion is that for the same price I’d much rather be in more interesting areas such as Tokyo Station, Shinjuku, or Ginza. With a significant discount I would consider staying again however at it’s average price point it’s a tough sell for me.

This is my first travel after pandemic, me and my family were very excited with this trip. This is my first time to stay in this hotel, my friend highly recommend to me. I stayed here for 4 nights, but I was quite disappointed started from reservation, and I can’t feel they treated me as a loyalty member.

When I email the hotel around the Christmas season, the one who response to my email is quite different from the staff of other Marriott hotels . For example, I have several questions on how to travelling to hotel from the airport, I believed that quite a lot of things are not recovered after pandemics, but she/he was not answering at all. I have to ask again to get the reply. They seldom have greeting in the email…like welcome to Tokyo Marriott or Merry Christmas etc….

When I stayed in the hotel, it was quite disappointed the house keeping didn’t replenish the towel and the tissue. As a member, I can’t see any welcoming card, fruit plate etc, they ask me to get the fruit at the lounge…

But the breakfast was really good, have a variety of choice and taste were good. Shuttle bus offering between Shinagawa station and hotel is very convenient!

In general, the hotel interior is a bit old.

u may think that I am picky, but I had experience to stay in different hotel under Marriott group, I choose Marriott hotel because I love their high standard of service. But this is the one that I feel disappointed and regret of my choice.

If I can choose again, I may not pick this hotel again.
