Does okay considering its non-existent special effects budget. The cover is a little misleading: this isn't a CG affair. Alien Express is clearly not ashamed to just blatantly use models, and it doesn't feel too out of place in this cartoonish story.
I was disappointed after watching the film to discover that no, the super train was not built in response to an alien emerging from a meteorite, but beforehand. Although this instantly made the film less interesting, the lead is okay, and carries you through Snakes On A Plane meets Alien and The Thing in probably the best way one could do that.
The let down is that the attacks in the mid-portion of the film are funnier and more entertaining than those in the latter half. And the film kind of goes off the rails towards the end.
But it's not as bad as I expected overall.
