      What to Know

      Critics Consensus

Well-made and solidly acted, Hart's War is modestly compelling. However, the movie suffers from having too many subplots.

David Ansen Newsweek Hart's War, as you might guess, can get too earnest for its own good. But Billy Ray and Terry George's screenplay, taken from a John Katzenbach novel, is expertly plotted. Matthew H Movie becomes laughably absurd the moment it becomes a courtroom drama. The cheese is strong with this film Rated 1 out of 5 stars 12/02/23 Full Review Steve D Ok but frustrating film that should have been better. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 09/25/23 Full Review Erica T First of all, highly recommended movie. There are alot of sub-plots leading to one big finale. Then the movie came from a book. The book was written by the son of a man who experienced first hand some of the events being a POW himself. The man who played the Nazi equivalent to colonel (don't remember what the word was) definitely added to the hate of Nazis. But a great performance on that actor's part. Terrence Howard and Cole Hauser gave even greater performances. Collin Ferrell was astounding as the attorney and absolutely one of his greatest performances. The topper was Bruce Willis! Not only for his sly character, notable acting, but for his death scene. It will always make me cry! Although his greatest and most notable death was Armageddon. This cast makes the whole story even livelier than reading its book! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/20/23 Full Review norman w The movie is rather confused as to whether it is a POW movie, a legal procedural or a civil rights movie. Rather outlandish concept and very muddled execution bog it down. It did poorly at the box office and was rushed into video. Don't waste your time unless you are a Colin Farrel or Bruce Willis fan. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review farah r It's not exactly a war movie nor a courtroom drama and it's not good either way. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Audience Member It's a movie full of dialogs. Dark settings and pessimism. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/11/23 Full Review Read all reviews
