Carlyle Grill, an Ann Arbor mainstay has proudly served the Ann Arbor Community since 2006. We work with some of Michigan’s finest food producers and purveyors to bring you the freshest offerings around. From steak dinners to burgers and salads and everything in between, we pride ourselves on providing you the best in flavor – offering generous portions to feed the hungriest of guests. Comfort is the theme at our relaxed, family-friendly restaurant, where the menu runs to familiar, home-style dishes with top-notch regional ingredients. Enjoy our welcoming atmosphere featuring colorful yet classic design elements – bringing in added warmth and comfort with deep mahogany accents and large flagstone columns in our main dining room. During the warmer seasons, take advantage of the two open-air dining areas surrounding the restaurant. Their French dip is to die for..

Had a French dip here today and I've never tasted one quite like this. It's the best I've ever had. Very impressed on the quality of their food and service. If you haven't visited Carlyle Grill you're missing out. They use fresh, quality ingredients made from scratch daily.

Gluten free dishes

We had a great experience at the Carlyle Grill. The restaurant has a nice design, the food was delicious and the wait staff attentive. On top of that, the menu included a nice selection of dishes that could be made gluten free! We will return.

Delightful Thanksgviing meal

We had 11 people at the table. The choices were good with traditional turkey, prime rib (upcharge), salmon (upcharge) and squash filled with a mushroom risotto. All meals included family style servings of stuffing (very good!), mash potatoes, mashed sweet potatoes, green beans-carrots, grilled Brussels sprouts and tasty rolls. There were 4 kids which were at a nice discount to the adult servings. We shared wine, coffee, tea and soft drinks. It was pricey but the wine choice of a fruity cab surprisingly matched very well with all the spices in the various dishes. I had eaten there previously for a regular meal -- just loved this place. It was a bit noisy but then again it was full of diners -- a very good sign.

Good lunch

This restaurant has a nice restaurant seating area, and a sizeable sports bar area with additional table seating and lots of TVs. We were here during an early Saturday afternoon, and sat at one of the bar area tables. We were served by the bartender, who was very friendly. We ordered a Cobb salad and a burger. The portion sizes of both were very large, and they both had good flavor (nothing outstanding, but good for a sports bar!). This was a good lunch experience.

Awesome experience. Menu selection was great. Food was prepared to perfection. The servings more than adequate. Staff was extremely pleasant, especially our waitress Courtney! We really enjoyed everything about this restaurant experience..

Very very dissapointed. We went to dinner last night and the waitress told us of a special 2 for $20 dollars. She repeated it twice. Then after my husband and I discussed it, I repeated it back to her to be 100% certain she was right. She repeated it again. I figured she had misspoke and the bill would be 2 for $20 dollars each. We ordered. Then we over heard her tell another table that it was 2 for $100.00. We looked at each other and we were not happy because the special menu was limited and we would have ordered something else. We made mention of the mistake to our waitress and she said oops. When we got our bill, it was $110 dollars as my husband had opted for a beer instead of their house wine. They could not even switch out a beer. So our bill was in the $130 dollar range and my husband did not even eat the dessert because of what they put on it. I did not finish it because of the topping. My husband was nice about it but I could tell he was really angry and he noted that we will not be going back on the drive home. It was NOT right and the water in the women's bathroom might of had ice crystals in it.

Classic food and great atmosphere

Well done comfort foods in warm, upscale atmosphere

Found Carlyle Grill via a positive Trip Advisor review a few years ago. Glad we did. It's become a favorite dinner spot when in or around Ann Arbor. The menu offers a wide selection, many items leaning toward the "comfort food" category, which is not a bad thing after a long day of shopping, cheering, art fairing, museuming, or whatever else might bring you to Ann Arbor. The atmosphere is equally comforting, a nice blend of arts and crafts and modern touches with a wide-open feel. Very inviting and uncrowded - even when it's full. The portions are generous and well prepared. From the mac & cheese to the pot roast to a burger and fries (excellent fries!), and more, I haven't been disappointed yet. It seems a bit out of the way, but it's really not, and it's certainly worth the effort.

One of my favorite restaurants in Ann Arbor

A great place to meet with friends, good food and good service, with warm ambiance. My favorite is the calamari appetizer, lightly breaded calamari with spinach and capers in a tangy lemon sauce. I always add a side of the shoe-string fries, crispy and salty, and enough to share with the table. The mushroom ravioli is also wonderful!

Special was not good

I have not been to this restaurant in quite some time, as I had had some not very good meals before. I looked at recent reviews, and they were good, so I decided to give it another try. I was very disappointed in the supposedly good beef stroganoff (I asked). t was mostly sauce and pasta...very little beef or mushrooms. I know this is a rich dish, but this was gluey mess. I ended up being sick from it. Service was good, especially since it was very crowded.

American Standards in a slightly upscale setting

We enjoyed our dinner at the Carlyle Grill. We had the fish and chips and the Newport Salad. The food was fresh and prepared well, and it came out quickly even though they were pretty busy. The service was ok, not super friendly. The atmosphere was similar to Olive Garden.

Lunch on the Run

Running errands in Ann Arbor, I stopped in to grab a quick 'Friday' lunch. I was warmly greeted and quickly seated. Caryle presented a warm and inviting environment. They played slow jazzy music. I enjoyed vegetable soup and steak frities. The meal was cooked to order and the bread basket contained a flavorful butter containing a touch of honey. I look forward to coming back for dinner.

Nice for conversation

We went to this restaurant the other night with another couple to catch up. Ambience good and not noisy. Service was good. Overall, a bit pricey.

Good food, a little pricy

Our draft beer and food was very good. The service was also good, although the entree arrived about three minutes after the salad. I asked the waitress to take my food back to warm up when I finished my salad, which she promptly did. The prices are a bit on the high side. A hamburger is $12, some entrees come with more than a potato, but many sides are extra. I will not return every day, but a nice place for a bit more upscale meal.
