Having won her first WTA 1000 and Grand Slam singles titles, can Coco Gauff complete a superb second half of 2023 with victory at the WTA Finals?

Cancun stages the season-ending tournament for the first time, two years after it was held in another Mexican city, Guadalajara.

All four Slam winners from the 2023 tennis season - Gauff, Australian Open champion Aryna Sabalenka, Roland Garros winner Iga Swiatek and Wimbledon hero Marketa Vondrousova - are in the eight-strong field.

The eight have been split into two round-robin groups of four - named after local areas of natural beauty and cultural significance - with the top two in each going through to the semi-finals.

Sabalenka, 2022 Wimbledon champion Elena Rybakina, Jessica Pegula and Maria Sakkari - a late replacement for injured Roland Garros runner-up Karolina Muchova - are in the Bacalar Group.

Swiatek, Gauff, Vondrousova and fan favourite Ons Jabeur are in the Chetumal Group.

Gauff opens her singles campaign on Monday (30 October) against Jabeur with the match starting no earlier than 6pm local Eastern Standard Time.

She then faces Swiatek before taking on Vondrousova in the hope of clinching a top-two berth.

The 19-year-old is also playing doubles in Cancun alongside fellow American Pegula.

They are the top seeds for the tournament and have been drawn in the Mahahual Group alongside seven-time Slam winning pair and Olympic champions Barbora Krejcikova and Katerina Siniakova, Laura Siegemund and Vera Zvonareva, and US Open champions Gabriela Dabrowski and Erin Routliffe.

Gauff and Pegula face Dabrowski and Routliffe in the last match on court on Sunday which will probably start no earlier than 7pm.
