‘Made in Dagenham’ heads for the Wellesley

Wellington Operatic Society will be bringing the hit musical Made in Dagenham to the Wellesley stage in just under two weeks.

This award-winning society have enjoyed notable success over the past few years.

Last year’s production of Little Shop of Horrors which was nominated for a NODA Award and Our House in 2022 played to full houses nearly every night.

Inspired by a true story and based on the hit movie, Made in Dagenham is the uplifting British musical comedy about friendship, love and the importance of fighting for what is right.

It is set in 1968 when Ford’s Dagenham car plant reduces female workers’ pay. One worker, Rita, leads her friends in a battle against the mighty company and the corrupt union supposedly there to protect them.

This funny, touching and timeless story shows how ordinary people can do extraordinary things when they stand together.

And here’s a special shoutout for the company costume team for Made in Dagenham.

The society says: “They’ve been working tirelessly to bring a 1960s vibe to life with their attention to detail and creativity. We can’t wait for everyone to see the stunning outfits on stage!”

Made in Dagenham is at the Wellesley between Wednesday, May 22nd and Saturday, May 25th at 7.30pm with a 2.30pm matinee on the 25th.
