We have a final result
Fianna Fáil candidates Brendan Smith and Niamh Smyth have claimed the last two seats of the election, as counting has finally come to an end in Cavan-Monaghan.
Their victory makes Fianna Fáil the largest party in the Dáil with 38 seats - just one more than Sinn Féin.

Ex-minister says she is leaving politics
Katherine Zappone, who was the children's minister up until this election, has said her election defeat will be the final act of her political career.

If this proves to be true, then Fianna Fáil will have won the most seats, with 38 - just one ahead of Sinn Féin on 37, with Fine Gael trailing just behind on 35.
The final two...
Just two seats remain in the Irish general election 2020, with voters in Cavan-Monaghan waiting to hear who has been elected.
Three candidates remain in the running:
Brendan Smith, Fianna Fáil
Niamh Smyth, Fianna Fáil
TP O'Reilly, Fine Gael
If Fianna Fáil claim the two seats they will become the largest party in the Dáil - beating Sinn Féin by one.
Health minister Simon Harris re-elected
On the 15th, and final count, Fine Gael's outgoing health minister Simon Harris has been re-elected in Wicklow.
The Green Party's Stephen Matthews and Fianna Fáil's Stephen Donnelly have also been elected, wrapping up the Wicklow count.
Counting finishes in Sligo-Leitrim
Fianna Fáil's Marc MacSharry and Fine Gael's Frankie Feighan have been elected to the constituency's remaining two seats.
There's now five seats left to be decided out of 160. It's been a long couple of days but we're nearly there!
'Fianna Fáil must accept they will form a centrist opposition'
Fianna Fáil's Malcolm Byrne, who lost his seat in Wexford, has said the party "must accept that [they] will form a centrist opposition".

...seats left overall in the 2020 Irish general election.
Three of those seats are in Wicklow, after the Social Democrats' Jennifer Whitmore got across the line in the constituency.

There's only eight seats left to be decided and three constituencies where all the remaining action is taking place - the finish line is in sight.
The three constituencies left counting are Cavan-Monaghan (two seats), Sligo-Leitrim (two seats) and Wicklow (four seats).
Hearing from the youth vote
There's one group of voters who made their mark in this election - young people.
Saturday night's exit poll suggested that Sinn Féin received the largest number of first preference votes (31.8%) among 18 to 24 year-olds.

Former minister loses her seat
Katherine Zappone, an independent politician who has served as the Minister for Children and Youth Affairs since May 2016, has lost her seat in Dublin South West.
There are only nine more seats left to be filled.
