The University of Graz is Austria’s second oldest and second largest university. The motto “we work for tomorrow” guides students and researchers. They develop solutions for the future with a special focus on the topics of sustainability, climate change and biosciences. Students can choose from a total of more than 120 studies. Bachelor’s, master’s and joint degree programmes as well as summer schools provide compatibility with international systems. Selected PhD programmes create an ideal basis for an academic career. As a modern scientific institution the University of Graz pools first-rate research and co-operations on a national as well as on an international level. Collaboration with more than 500 partner institutions worldwide enriches the scientific life and ensures high quality of teaching and research. In addition, almost 20% of the inhabitants of the city of Graz are students, which makes the city an El Dorado for young people.

NAWI Graz. With NAWI Graz the University of Graz and Graz University of Technology have created a co-operation that is unique in Austria. NAWI Graz stands for joint teaching,research and PhD programmes in the natural sciences. Joint degree programmes have been established in the fields of chemistry, technical and molecular biosciences, mathematics, physics and geosciences.
Joint Programmes. The University of Graz offers twelve joint programmes on the master's level (coordinating ten of them) with renowned international partner universities, thus bundling the expertise of several partner universities worldwide. The unique combination makes it possible to look at scientific approaches at the cutting edge from different academic as well as (inter)national aspects. Students have the opportunity to specialise in complementary focus areas, benefit from an intercultural experience in an international classroom and thus increase their employability in the international labour market.
Climate Change. The field of expertise »Climate Change« joins research groups from climate and environmental physics, meteorology, environmental chemistry, hydrogeology, environmental biology, environmental economics and sociology, geography and regional research, systems sciences and sustainability research, environmental ethics and environmental law in Graz. The focus lies on the analysis and monitoring of climate and environmental change and its impacts, on the analysis of the role of human beings and the identification of transition paths towards sustainable regional development and innovation.
