Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I last visited the Kelvingrove over a decade ago with my mother and we still talk about our visit to this day. My husband and I recently stayed in Dumfries and Galloway and decided to make the journey up to Glasgow so I could finally show him what I've been telling him about for so long. It was wonderful to be back, to see the magnificent building and the treasures it holds. My husband isn't usually lost for words but he was when the organ recital began!
We had a lovely lunch in the KG cafe, welcoming staff, bright and clean surroundings and the best gluten free bread I've ever eaten. Food and drink prices are extremely good value for money.
Thank you Kelvingrove, you certainly lived up to expectations and hopes - we will be back.

A superb place to go if changing trains in Edinburgh. Exit Waverley station, straight ahead walk just 3-5 minutes to the opposite end of Princes' St. Gardens. Coffee or lunch, eat indoors with a view or on the patio. Good value, excellent freshly made Scottish food.

I have visited the galleries on previous visits, very interesting, free ( voluntary donation, give some money if you can) Both times I changed train last week, I just had time for lunch. Open 10-4. The café kiosks on a raised terrace are open longer, the Italian ice-cream one serves excellent tea & coffee too.

We will be back at the National Gallery & its tea room in just next week

In addition to the portraits and photographs collected by the Gallery, the building itself is a treasure.

Dating back to 1890, it is a Gothic Revival architecture building. The niches on the outer wall are inlaid with sculptures of famous Scotsmen (Though it is difficult for me to identify who is who).

The beautiful processional frieze in the main entrance - "Great Hall" also depicts a series of famous Scots throughout history.

While admiring beautiful portraits, don't miss the fascinating architecture and murals.

Excellent museum. Just recently reopened after a major refurbishment and has truly upgraded to a better level. The free tour by Morna was so good. The best tour of a museum I have been on. She kept my attention fully with her interesting stories which is unusual for me as I have a limited concentration span! The Degas exhibition was so good too. Thoroughly recommend.

This was an experience. It was unlike anything else I’ve ever done. The sculptures are incredibly intricate and interesting to watch. Really glad we got the opportunity to go to one of the shows and watch the sculptures in action.

This is a very nice museum in the centre of Dundee with lots of exhibits and art work show-casing Dundee's history and culture. Set over several floors in a lovely old building (and with free entry), it's a very pleasant way to spend 1-2 hours. The exhibits are nicely laid out and there's friendly staff plus a cafe.

Worth your time if you're in the city.

An excellent experience, went with a disabled friend and so pleased with the way staff helped us. Such an interesting house and a beautiful garden even though it was raining. Would highly recommended a visit.

Tour of the castle was excellent with so much to see. Guide Scott was the highlight with his wealth of knowledge about the family and the art with impeccable delivery. Perhaps a little more about 'Downstairs' could be included?

We visited here before going to One and we think we liked this one even better. Well laid out exhibitions that are nice to walk through. And please visit the lovely cafe inside.

Been here many times but first time since the renovations!

First of got a friendly welcome as i entered which never expected and through out staff were very helpful!

I really liked the it since i was last there. I love art but of course not all art is for me! Good thing here is its fairly diverse and its organised so rooms have different styles and themes. There is quite a lot associated with the local city and its history and some new local artists work too! Which i think is great.

There is everything from pop art to traditional portraits. Recent art from locals and temporary exhibitions too.
I have Louise Bourgeois exhibition this time, previously i saw shell sponsored one and Da Vinci sketches to name a couple.

Anyone with interest in art or the city and can appreciate getting a sense of its history and character through art should definitely go there for an hour or two!

Called in on after walking up from Central station. Decent little gallery not the biggest and when we called in they had just closed down one of the special exhibitions. Enjoyable hour spent round and for any art decco/ macintosh fans I guess visiting the macintosh house recreation would be an essential.

I accept some previous comments that the cafe is not quite what it used to be. Today, for the first time in many years, we took the guided tour of the house. We found it fascinating, brought alive by the knowledge of Oliver, our guide, who I hope is recognised by the NTS for his great service. (But maybe speak a wee bit slower!)

Came here almost by accident. We spent the morning walking beside the Water of Leith and needed somewhere for lunch. The cafe was busy but had plenty of choice. I particularly enjoyed the mushroom salad.
I’m not a huge fan of modern art but there is quite a variety of art works on display so there was quite enough to keep the three of us interested for the hour or so we had available.

The exhibits in the museum are well presented and of great local interest. One of them being the oldest football in the world dating back to the time of Mary Queen of Scots.
There are also various paintings on display in the gallery. The artwork displays are changed on a regular basis.
As local residents we pop in fairly frequently, either for lunch or a coffee and a cake in the museum cafe.
Entrance is free with collection boxes for voluntary contributions.

A very impressive display of all main religions found throughout the world enables visitors to gain insight as to what they are and reflect upon their practices. Because of this, it could also be a place where a lot of time is spent.
