Welcome to Plucky Sparrow Homestead! Wake up to the dawn chorus, make a cuppa in the French press, have some brekkie, pick some produce, head down to town, soak in the “poor man’s” clawfoot hot tub, build a fire, marvel at fireflies at dusk, get cozy in your living room with a movie or a game. We’d love to share our homestead with you. Minutes to downtown Marshall’s charming cafes, diners, bars, organic grocer, nearby raft outfitters, trails; 7 mins to Marshall, 30 mins to Asheville.

The space
The house is a 1970s ranch. We live in the main part, and you will stay in the attached guest suite. You have a separate entrance to your two room suite, with a mini kitchen, living/dining area, and bedroom with full en-suite bathroom.

If you have a third guest there are two options; sleep on the comfy couch or you can bring an air mattress- we will provide additional linens, just let us know prior to arrival!

Guest access
You have your private guest suite all to yourselves :) you also have a small covered porch with a table that’s nice on summer days with a cuppa. You are more than welcome to wander and use the spaces on property: fenced backyard, woodland walkies, outdoor fire pit with cooking grate, dining table, poor man’s hot tub(see below for further details). In season we’d be happy to show you around the growing areas and welcome you to pick veggies or herbs if they are ready for harvest!

If you do want to use the hot tub, or would like it ready for your arrival, we need a minimum 4 hour notice and there is an additional fee of $50 each use, which includes set up, wood for fire, and draining/cleaning. If you’d like to learn how to do it yourself, we are happy to show you the first time and then the charge for use thereafter would only be for the wood if you need it, and then you fill, fire up and clean yourself :)

We have two fire pits you can use and plenty of firewood, so feel free to enjoy time beside the fire, or use the grill to cook some food over it!

Other things to note
We provide some items for a light breakfast or snack, normally things like oats, granola, cereal, pancake mix. Please let us know if you’d like milk. You will always have roast and ground coffee for the French press, tea and hot cocoa.
