    Gorgeous venue, great value
We attended 2 shows at this theater and I can't say enough good things about both experiences. Ticket prices are great value, parking is convenient ( right next door) and the theater itself has been beautifully restored. Seats are very comfortable, aisles are roomy and the acoustics are fabulous. First show was Legacy, an R&B/ Motown band whose harmony and choreography are spot on. The next show was Wade Hayes with Chelsea and Runaway Train, singing both modern and classic country. It was also an impressive show, as singers and band sounded great and seemed to be thoroughly enjoying themselves. Looking forward to coming back !

A Treasure, My All Time Favorite LIVE Music Venue
Being an avid concert attender (with nearly 1,000 lifetime shows under my belt), I recently happened upon The Don Gibson Theatre which has quickly become my all time favorite LIVE music venue. My drive time in from South Carolina is 2 hours and 15 minutes up I85. The time spent on the road compared to that of similar venues in the UpState and NE Georgia has proven itself well worth it time and again. The 400 seat Art Deco treasure, both intimate and modern, features comfortable seating with sound like no other. Once conveniently parked onsite, a marquee will quickly catch your attention and guide you inside to greet a friendly and knowledgable staff. Upon entry make your way to the lounge, pull up a table and enjoy top local entertainment with a favorite drink prior to the performance. Of special note Executive Director Stan Lowery will be out and about making his rounds helping patrons feel welcomed. The caliber of artists the venue draws in are unparalleled for the value of admission costs, and did I mention, there’s not a bad seat in the house. One of the things that will make the evening special is how the venue fosters artist/fan interaction. You wont find ushers telling you to put your cell phone cameras away, and in numerous cases you’ll actually find the artist signing memorabilia in the lounge after the performance. Take my advice and look up the Don Gibson online or on social media and book a pair of tickets today. I will promise you, you’ll be glad that you did! DAve in Abbeville, SC

    This is an excellent venue.
The seats are uncommonly wide, and there is lots of leg room. Facility was very clean, and the staff were helpful and welcoming. And the room sounds good. It's cozy. I don't think there's a bad seat in the place. We will be monitoring their calendar for events that interest us, to return in the future.

We saw 70s/80s country music/broadway star Gary Morris at this renovated movie theater. It was a great venue for a man, his guitars and his amazing vocal range. There are no bad seats in the house and those seats are comfortable. There is a bar, although no food and drink in the actual theater.

First visit to DGT was last Saturday to see Reckless Kelly from Texas. On a positive note, the facility is spotless, well run, very organized, and walking distance to downtown restaurants. There were three areas that were not particularly appealing. First, this is a "sit-down" venue. For those that enjoy being in a group up near the stage or standing up dancing at your seat, this is not the place for you. Secondly, they have a rule where you must purchase their sealable cup to take your drinks into the show. So, unless you purchase more than one cup, you can only take one drink at a time in. And third, the bar service is terrible. Three bartenders were working that night, and their attentiveness to the customers needs help. They would look at you, and then go wait on someone else. This review sounds negative. It should not. The positives outweighed the negatives in that I would definitely return for another show. The negatives are merely constructive criticism for areas that could be improved upon.

Thank you for your kind review. We strive to do better in the bar area and will continue to do so. Thank you for pointing out the need for attention. I will personally look into the situation. I'm glad you enjoyed the show. Hope to see you again soon.

This is a state of the art and relatively compact venue with mid-tier acts and musical groups. It usually has lounge entertainment in a separate bar area preceding the main enertainment. Alcoholic beverages are available in the bar area. The venue was dedicated to the local late celebrity Don Gibson of country music fame.

This is a neat theatre/museum in downtown Shelby, NC. It has several Gibson mementos and has a great little 400 seat auditorium with no obstructed views. The walls are lined with photos and autographs of entertainers who have performed there.

The management of the Don Gibson Theater does an amazing job of brining in top stars to perform. The venue is great - not a bad seat in the house. With only 400 seats, it is a very intimate setting. Theater is nicely done. The seats are very comfortable and you do not feel cramped. Prices are very reasonable. There is a nice area to meet the stars after the show for autographs. There are also a lot of great resturants within walking distance for dinner before or coffee and dessert after the show. Come early for best parking. Since I am fortunate to live in Shelby, I have seen numerous shows at the Don Gibson. Always a great experience.

We saw Al Stewart in Concert here. Parking was convenient. The venue was very nice. The chairs were comfortable with lots of leg room. Seating was reserved so there wasn't a mad rush for seating. The waiting area was nice too, with a guitar player providing music for the preshow. There was also a signing line for after the show which was well organized too. Acoustic were great and there were no technical problems. Over all, excellent. We would go back there again.

A wonderful location to see bands in an intimate 400 person theatre. I've been here for quite a few shows and they're always great!

Quite by accident I found out about a group called the Cleverly's that was to perform at the Don Gibson Theater. My wife and I got tickets, and it was easy hour drive from Greenville, SC.

The theater seats about 400, and I don't think there is a bad seat in the house. You can order tickets online, but the cheapest and easiest way is to call the box office. They were very helpful, and also made us aware of local restaurants within close walking distance.

The theater has a lounge area off to the side, with live music before the main doors open. Drinks are available.

The interior looks very new and seats are comfortable. Acoustics are good, not great. However our perception may be due to the fact we were sitting next to one of the walls.

The only negative is that they don't appear to advertise their shows in Greenville. Of course, now I will check their webpage on a regular basis.
