Dave Bautista is one of Hollywood's busiest stars. His latest movie has a neat link to his previous work, which makes it all the more exciting.

What To Expect From My Spy 2

Will It Be Better Than The Original?

Kristen Schaal and Dave Bautista in My Spy

As of this writing, My Spy has a fairly lackluster 48% on Rotten Tomatoes, with the audience score even worse at 39%. While the film doesn't seem to have many glaring flaws, critics mostly agreed that it just felt somewhat generic and failed to offer up anything new or exciting compared to other movies with similar premises. If the sequel is to beat this score, it will certainly have to add some fresh new ingredients in order to stand out.

In addition to starring in My Spy: The Eternal City, Bautista is also set to start in The Killer's Game.

Behind the camera, My Spy: The Eternal City features a similar lineup to the first movie. Peter Segal is back as director, and Erich Hoeber and Jon Hoeber have penned the script, with Segal also getting a writing credit this time around. In front of the camera, the My Spy: The Eternal City cast features some notable actors, including Ken Jeong, Anna Faris, Kristen Schaal, Craig Robinson, and Flula Borg. Jeong and Schaal reprise their roles from the first movie as David Kim and Bobby, respectively.

My Spy: The Eteranal City won't be getting a theatrical release, but it's possible that Bautista's recent projects will help the film become a viewership hit. He recently appeared as part of the cast of Dune: Part Two, which has been a major success, and he also returned as Drax in last year's Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. It remains to be seen how My Spy: The Eternal City will be received by audiences and critics, but the latest tease for the sequel means a trailer probably isn't far off.
