Luther, by Jojo, is the main protagonist of Needlem0use Series. He was a human who was murdered and transported into a Sonic game where the vengeful spirit of his former friend, Sarah Henderson, resided in order to be together forever.
The Victim[]
Luther as a young adult was part of a group called "The Fun Gang" Which consisted of himself, Michael, Martin, and Sarah. They all would attend a party. Where they all had gotten drunk and a fight broke out, leading to Luther, Michael, and Martin having accidentally killed Sarah. They hid the body in a lake and agreed to never bring it up ever again.
30 years would go by and Luther's friends Michael and Martin would die under mysterious circumstance. Luther would then discover an old disk, ignorant of the fact their former friend Sarah was inside said disk. Luther would then fall to Sarah just like his friends before.
Appearance[]
Luther appears as a orange Fox with blue eyes, blue streaks, white gloves with black wrist sections, blue and white shoes with black rings and a blue scarf. He has no mouth and typically has a serious expression.
In his old appearance he has no scarf or blue streaks, white wrist section, and a soulless smile. He is also cross-eyed.
The Tale[]
Season One[]
Luther as a young adult was part of a group called "The Fun Gang". He was best friends with a girl named Sarah, who also was part of said group. One day in 1963, while they were drunk at a party, things went south and they accidentally killed Sarah. Not wanting anyone to find out, Luther and the rest of the Fun Gang covered up her murder, agreeing to never bring it up again. 30 years later, he was now an adult with a family. He found out his old friend Michael was killed, and he decided to investigate. After that, his other old friend Martin was killed and he discovered a tape created by the ghost of Sarah, who revealed that she had killed both of them and was coming for Luther next. Filled with guilt, Luther made a confession tape explaining that they were the ones who killed Sarah and his regret for it before deciding to destroy the game. Before he could do it, the game had moved on its own and Sarah went through the TV and killed Luther, forcing his soul to enter a Tails vessel.
Season Two[]
Luther's son, Thomas, had started a YouTube channel named "Speedduo64" with his friend Kyle. Thomas had found an old Sonic game in his father's things. He decided to make a let's play on it and show off other contents such as promotional art and screencaps. Meanwhile, Luther desperately wanted to stop Sarah and end their torment, attempting to sneak up on Sarah and failing. After Sarah snaps, she kills Kyle and transports him in the game where Luther gives him free will. After his first attempt he goes into the special zone and gains full control of his body, morphing into his current appearance and gaining his signature hammer. He then confronts Sarah, saving Thomas and holding her back for a limited amount of time. Luther almost convinces Sarah to stop and let go, however, Thomas is killed while Atem kept him occupied, Atem would then torment Luther by bringing his past memories he had repressed due to the alcohol back, causing Luther to have a mental breakdown, realizing he is no better than Sarah as he spirals down. However, Kyle had appeared and comforted him, telling him that forgiving himself doesn't ease the pain, but that's okay, as it's the first step to finding peace. After hearing this, Luther would finally be able to move on to the after life, letting his soul rest in peace along with Martin and Michael. With both Kyle and Sarah following soon after the end of the series. Thomas, on the other hand, is revived by Del with no memory of what had happened.
Combat Potential[]
- Luther should have about the same amount of power as Sarah after gaining full control of his body, though he is still limited to the game and cannot escape. He can also use an Axe created from the Chaos Emerald he uses.
Trivia[]
- Luther is the only main character to return.
- Luther's design is based off of these two video game characters.
- Curiously enough, the variant of Tom (the protagonist of the original story) present in this universe is his son.
- Luther was going to appear in the Friday Night Funkin' mod known as VS. Sonic.EXE with the song "Her World", but he was scrapped from it due to the mod being cancelled.
- However, as of the time of writing this, "Her World" has been revealed to be being officially finished.
- In the episode of the second season known as "Atem" it's revealed that he was the one who murdered Sarah, as while everyone was responsible for her murder, Luther was the one to deal the final blow. Unintentionally starting the whole plot. He was even the one responsible for bringing up the idea of throwing her body into the lake and remaining shut about what happened. Of course, he didn't remember any of this before he was reminded of it later in the series.
- During the development of the series, there was a cut chase scene where Atem chased down Luther.
- In the official QNA of Needlem0use, hosted by ShutupJojo, we learn a few fun facts about Luther.
- Luther wears a scarf because the void they are in has no heat, no nothing. Sarah and the others are used to it, but Luther isn't. so he wears the scarf to stay warm.
- Outside of Luther's situation, he likes Tails as a character. He also helped create the sprites for Tails during the development of Sonic 2.
- Luther has no idea about the Modern Sonic games that have released.
- Luther also unintentionally referenced the "Rough transition to 3D" meme.
- Luther, like Sarah, has no knowledge of other EXEs. And dislikes the idea of it.
- Luther knew Johnathan Michaels.
- However, Luther is unaware of Johnathan's current situation.
