I first saw this when I was in grade school. This movie was the reason I always wanted to own a black horse and now I have my own GYPSY. Loved the movie.
This movie is the very-top-of-the-line in horse-movie-entertainment! I would like to see it remastered digimaticaly in DVD. Ward Bond and all are superb in this light-hearted movie for children of all ages; that's right, for adults too!, especially! Moreover, I would also like to see "Another Man, Another Chance" (the English title) with James Caan and G. Bujold also remastered into an English DVD! It is a superb movie, just bleep out the first two or three minutes with the nonsensical swear words, totally unnessasary, unwarranted and unneeded; the movie carries itself with extremely fine acting. I understand that the French version, "Another Man, Another Woman" is in DVD; it is one of the finest westerns, by a French Director, at least one French actress and the violence and western folklore is foretold in an incredibly delightful way. I want an English copy on DVD! I am a western DVD collector and rate this above mentioned flix along with "Lonesome Dove" . . . "True Grit" . . . "Tombstone" . . . "Wyatt Earp" . . . "Unforgiven" . . . "The Longriders" . . . "Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid" . . . "Outlaw Josey Wells"; except, the Frenchman does it with less blood and guts--I can live with it as it's done nicely and it's not left out--imagination--that's the key. The lovely G. Bujold, with her original French-Canadian accent is and sounds lovely, absolutely a French doll--forgive me Sussanne Pleshette and Claudine Longet. AG Potts.
51 years ago, my father took me to see "Gypsy Colt". Of all the horse movies I've seen & all the horse books I've read, Gypsy Colt is the one that I recall with the fondest memories. What can be any better- ride your coal black horse bareback to school & Gypsy will be there to give you a ride back home after school. Gypsy was the name I gave to one of my favorite horses. It is a happy story with Meg & Gypsy reunited at the end. I believe it is a must see for all young people who love horses & must see for adults - we need more movies like this.
The DVD says no disc and it will not play. I've had some do this before which would work on a blueray player, so once I get one of those, will hope it will play as it was one of my mother's favorite movies.
I was able to replace a video with this. The equine version of Lassie Come Home. Love the actors and enjoyed the acting by "Fury" (can't remember the horses name - maybe Hilldale's Laddie"
