Subaru has recalled about 3,700 vehicles because a crucial engine part could crack, leaving them undriveable. They might also roll even when parked.
The recall applies to the following:
- 2023-2024 Subaru Forester
- 2023 Subaru WRX
- 2024 Subaru Crosstrek
- 2024 Subaru Impreza
Subaru tells federal auto safety officials that the cars “may be equipped with a front drive shaft assembly with an outer race that could crack.” If it cracks, that could cause an engine failure and allow the vehicles to roll away when parked.
Dealers will inspect the drive shafts and replace them if necessary.
