Maggie McCray and
Lindsay Gedro each threw complete-game shutouts Saturday as the Roanoke College softball team swept Bridgewater College 1-0 and 3-0 in Old Dominion Athletic Conference play.
How it happened (Game 1):
*McCray allowed just two hits and one walk while striking out nine.
*The Maroons pushed across the game's only run in the third inning.
Jordyn DiFava led off with a single and
Morgan Clark reached first on an Eagle error on her sacrifice bunt.
Heather McQueeney followed with a walk to load the bases and after an out was recorded,
Molly Epperson brought DiFava home on a sacrifice fly. Â
*McCray allowed just two baserunners the rest of the game to close out the win.
Inside the numbers (Game 1) :
* The teams combined for just six hits in game one. DiFava,
Sammie Murphy , Epperson and
Heather McQueeney had the base hits for RC, and McQueeney also walked.
*Samantha Martin was the tough-luck loser for BC, allowing just four hits, one walk and one unearned run with four strikeouts.
How it happened (Game 2):
*
Lilly Burns got Roanoke on the scoreboard in game two with a two-run home run in the second inning.
*
Madison Courts followed with an RBI double in the third to add an insurance run.
*Bridgewater had two runners on base in the first and third innings but Gedro worked out of both jams.
Inside the numbers (Game 2) :
*Gedro scattered seven hits and one walk with four strikeouts.

Leah Butts had a double,
Katelyn Craghead singled and
Erin Gorschboth drew two walks and scored a run.
*Jazmyne Smith had three hits for Bridgewater (18-20/11-9 ODAC).
