The Belvedere is a hotel that has been in the same family for generations. It has a wonderful family feel, a relaxed atmosphere and warm and friendly staff. Our room was very practical, comfortable and spotlessly clean. The pool and spa area were lovely too. There is a large lounge and a more intimate bar area, both of which are relaxing. The bar staff come round regularly to take drinks orders. The lounge has spectacular views of the Eiger. In the early evening, there is a wonderful pianist there too, who then moves to the restaurant for dinner service. Free soup is served every afternoon, a nice touch, and arrivals are greeted with a welcome drink. The hotel has a storage area for skis and boots and offers a shuttle service to Terminal and one of the other hubs. The restaurant is superb too (I have reviewed it separately); the half board option is well worth it! The family are a very visible presence throughout the hotel, chatting to guests and staff alike. I also have to mention the annual New Year’s Eve dinner and party, which is just superb. Stay here- you won’t regret it! We’re on our 5th visit!

Dear regular guests, many thanks for your fantastic loyalty. A very big "thank-you" also for the wonderful review with a 5 bubble score. We are very happy to read, that you enjoyed your stay with us also this time and we are very much looking forward to welcoming you back next year. In the winter, guests coming from skiing love to enjoy a warm soup, during the summer time, we serve cake instead. The hotel shuttle minibus takes skiers to the "terminal" in the morning during the winter season, as the local skibuses, stopping almost in front of the hotel, are usually very full when coming from the centre of town. Many thanks for recommending our hotel to all the readers of your review. Wishing you all the best in 2023 and looking forward to welcoming you back, we remain with best regards Urs-B. I have just spent a long weekend with my relatives in this fantastic hotel. Reopening after lockdown must have been quite challenging, as the hosts had to make sure that safety requirements are met. They managed wonderfully.
I'd recommend this hotel to anyone who values family owned hotels (over chain hotels that only care about your wallet!); everyone, from the family members to the rest of the staff, will make sure that the guests are satisfied.
The chef spoilt us with delicious meals. A large selection of products is available for breakfast, and we especially appreciated the local cheeses and meats.
The indoor pool and whirlpool were great for our aching legs (long hikes!), however, we especially appreciated the outdoor heated pool.
This hotel is also located near the train station, which is nice if you're traveling by train.

Dear Belvedere guests, many thanks for the excellent reviews. We thank you so much for having chosen our family run hotel for your stay in Grindelwald. Yes, those Corona measures were quite a challenge and we are very happy to get your feed back, telling us that we managed well. We hope that normality will be back soon, however we are aware of the fact, that this will take month, if not years. Hoping to have the great pleasure and honor of being able to welcoming you back soon, we remain with best regards Urs-B. Hauser, family and staff

Our family of 6 stayed in 2 rooms - a family room and an executive double - for 4 days in December, 2021. This is the 2nd time we have stayed and the Belvedere and it will not be our last.

The view of Eiger and the valley from the Executve Double is not to be missed! With fresh snowfall in the valley, the view from the balcony looks like a picture postcard. The Executive Double room and bathroom is also smartly fit out to a very high standard (a step above the family room where our adult sons and other children stayed).

The family room was spacious and well appointed for 4 and gave the kids a place to play games and relax in the evenings after a full day in the mountains.

The location is excellent, a short walk to the train station (for those looking to go up the mountain) and from town for restaurants, bars, and shops. Breakfast was fully by European standards with a wide range of fresh local fare.

The pool, especially the heated outdoor jacuzzi was a welcome spot to unwind after a long day in the mountains..

Though we enjoyed every aspect of our stay (including drinks and a bit of billiards in the lobby), the enthusiasm and welcoming nature of the staff was by far, one of our favorite aspects of the hotel..

The biggest surprise on this stay, though was the curling lessons at the local sports center. We had never tried curling before, but the owner himself (thank you Herr Hauser) took us on the short walk to the sports zentrum for an hour long introduction to curling. He was delightfully entertaining and engaging, making the experience fun for the whole family! It is something my kids will always remember!

While we enjoyed the rooms, the food, and the facilities, the reason we will look to return again in the future is, as my son describes, ‘they make us feel like family’ when we stay at the Hotel Belvedere Grindelwald .

Dear guests, thank you so much for having visited our hotel a second time. Wonderful that you mention right at the beginning that you will return. We are very much looking forward to welcoming you back. Many, many thanks for the 5 bubble review and for all the wonderful comments. It was a great pleasure to introduce you to Curling. It is a fun game and if you will have time to watch some curling at the upcoming Olympics, you will much better understand what's all about. We wish you a Happy New Year, all the best for 2022. My fiance and I stayed in room 427 facing Eiger. Waking up every morning was nothing short of special. In fact everything about this hotel is special. The food was amazing, the service , and owner was friendly and caring (they care about you). Our favorite aspect of the actual room was heated bathroom floors and heated towel rack...

Short walk into town
Great outdoor hottub
Nice pool table
Breakfast spread (unreal)

My only advice to the hotel is to eliminate the $15 fee for room service and please give out free waters. If you're paying $608 a night I would expect a couple bottles of water.

Dear Belvedere guests, many thanks for the great review and thank you so much for having chosen our hotel for your stay in Grindelwald. Regarding your advice, many thanks for mentioning it. The $ 15.- for room service has been introduced not long time ago. Here the only reason why. Before charging that fee, we suddenly got guests, and that not only in one, but many rooms, whom started asking for all kind of things to be brought to their rooms. Instead of bringing up drinks of food, allowing one waiter to do that work easily and do other work besides, means it was about a 30% job, we suddenly needed two persons full time. That are in Switzerland extra costs of $ 10'000.- per month. The $ 15.- of course are not covering those costs, but since we introduced that fee, again one waiter can do the work easily, as instead of calling somebody 6-15 times in one evening, they ask now for all they need at the same time, everything can be brought up with one visit to the room. Regarding water, all our guests get water at check-out for the trip, however we do not consider it sustainable, to have a lory bring water from far (for example Evian, 250 miles away) to Grindelwald for our guests rooms, knowing that the tabwater we have is from a mountain well and of same quality as those mineral waters, only fresher. We put in all rooms a flask, allowing our guests, to fill it with fresh mountain water from the tab. Please read the review of January 8th 2020. with title "Wonderful". There a guests is mentioning exactly what I wrote. We thank you for your understanding and thanking you so much for taken the time to recommend our hotel to the world. With best regards Urs-B. The hotel is magical. Its our first time we stayed there and definitely not the last. The meeting of history and modern times at the Belvedere Hotel is a combination of value, hospitality and family experience. All in one unforgettable package + the nature. The hotel staff is very professional and meets the guest in every way: whether you need a grain pillow or a gluten-free dinner or to adjust the menu to your wishes - everything is possible with a smile and understanding. Two ladies lead the restaurant and make the impossible possible! The reception has a great team! Christina who is enthusiastic and knows every corner of the mountains. Even though she is works as a receptionist, she guided us with great care and love where to go and what to visit. Her suggested routings and tips are of great value!! Sara, Michele and all of the reception staff were also fantastic! Forgive me for not remembering all your names! Basically there are no frills in the hotel haha. Ah yes, Hermando makes a the best cappuccino in Switzerland, cocktails and knows how to make guests laugh. There is also a wonderful guy who parked our car and took things to the room and is always with a wide smile! The cleaning ladies are all with a smile and very resourceful and especially the wonderful young Portuguese who maintains the 4th floor. The pool is clean and open while there are guests. One evening we finished swimming at 23:10h. A hotel to which I will return and recommend to everyone. With them, everything is simple, clean, disinfectant at every step, hygienic gloves in the restaurant ... For me Belvedere is EXCEPTIONAL as well as the view!

Great hotel in a prime location, looks directly onto Matterhorn and 2 minutes walk from station but just far enough away to be quiet. Rooms are comfortable, albeit not particularly large, bathroom feel quite small but well appointed. View from balcony is stunning. Definitely worth getting an Eiger view room. The whole place has a lot of charm and exudes quality, everything feels well thought about and well executed without being glitzy or flashy, The staff really standout and are what make the experience of staying here special - consistently friendly, welcoming, attentive and knowledgable. Special mention to Sonia and Christina who are on point, all the time. The bar - and the barman in particular is also excellent, he makes amazing cocktails, highly recommend. Restaurant dinner is good, although felt the choice was a bit narrow at times, would like to have a la carte. Breakfast spread is very good. The hotel gives you free use of e-bikes for at least 1 day which is a great way to explore using a bit less effort. We love this hotel and we love Grindelwald, we want to come back!

Dear Belvedere guests, many thanks for the top score and the lovely review. We highly appreciate your choice of the Belvedere, as there are quite some competitors around. We especially like to read, that you have the intention to come back. I have no idea, which room you were staying in, however I am sure, that we have bigger rooms than the one you were in, may be ask for one when making another booking. The reason why we have no a la carte is Covid-19, even if this sounds strange. The hotel had a higher occupancy the last few years, but in the restaurant, there were hardly every 50 persons. June was very quiet, we did not know if it would be possible to keep our team in the kitchen, they had no work. Suddenly, beginning of July, the hotel startet to fill and to our surprise, almost all guests wanted to eat at the hotel. Not 40 to 50 guests each evening, no suddenly 80-100, means the double than in the past years. To be able to continue serving good quality and not to have long waiting times in-between the courses, we decided to stop offering a-la-carte, as we could not find any good extra chefs. We think that from the next winter season on, we will be able to go back to "normal". Thank you for mentioning Sonya and Christina and also our barman Hermindo. With best regards Urs-B. Hauser, family and staff PS : From our prime location, you have a sensational view to the famous EIGER mountain, not the Matterhorn. Movies. like Eiger sanction with Clint Eastwood, IMAX movie "The Alps", James Bond movie "Golden Eye" and the newest one, "the Northface", make that mountain known world wide and together with Mönch and Jungfrau the "trio" is just as well known and the beautiful Matterhorn.

I throughly enjoyed my stay here for three nights at the End of Feb 21. My room was located on the 4th Floor and I had a most wonderful view of the Eiger and the entire valley. The hotel is located in the heart of Grindelwald, walking distance from the town centre and Grindelwald train station, infact you can see the Pink Building at the end of the platform on arrival. I drove here and parked my car in the hotel’s free parking space next to the Ski storage room. I used the train to reach the Kleine Scheidegg from where I was straight onto the slopes. Additionally, the hotel has a private free bus service with a very helpful and friendly driver who will drive you with your Ski gear to either First Lift or Grindelwald Terminal, where you can catch the Eiger Express or Maennlichen Gondola Lifts. I recommend booking directly with the hotel online, since there is a better rate and room selection from their website. The hotel has many facilities including a pool and wellness area, did not really use it though as it was busy during the afternoons, it is however open quite late and gets quite after 6 pm. The hotel is run by 3rd generation Hauser family, who are very friendly and down to earth hosts. Made me feel welcome and right at home during my stay here. Food was great, I booked a room with half board which included Breakfast and Dinner. Hotel offers a pre-packed sandwich, which I opted not go for, instead in the afternoons, I was offered free soup of the day and enjoyed a drink whilst relaxing in the lounge area with live piano performance. The Breakfast has a good selection of both warm and cold varieties and beautiful honey if you are a fan. The dinner is four course includes a nice starter, followed by salad and 3 different mains to choose from followed by homemade desserts. The real nice part of this hotel for me though was the staff who I found very welcoming, friendly and looked after me during my stay. I will be back soon.

Dear Belvedere-guest, many, many thanks for your very informative review with a top score, giving a lot of interesting details. We are all very happy to read that you enjoyed your stay with us and we are particularly like to hear, that you have the intention of coming back soon. Yes, the wellness area is getting very busy from about 4pm to 6pm, means during 2h. Before and afterwards, there are only very few guests around, yes for many hours even nobody. The children of course also enjoy the area very much and are quite loud and full of energy most of the time. However from 5.30pm on, only adults are allowed in the area. Therefore, if you like peace and quiet, either visit the area before 4pm or after 5.30pm. We are very much looking forward to welcoming you back soon and remain, with best regards Urs-B. The Jungfrau Region is one of the most breathtaking placeS in Switzerland and Grindelwald has this amazing place to stay called Hotel Belvedere. With an incredible view to the Eiger and a truly Swiss Quality service, we have enjoyed this family friendly where we felt like home. The family room was cozy and with plenty space. Breakfast is superb and the dinner was incredible and it was included during summer stay. The staff was friendly and gave us excellent tips. We took advantage of getting the tickets to Jungfraujoch directly at the reception and we included convenient lunch boxes for our hiking. Spa was refreshing after long hikes too! iWe will be back to enjoy!!!! Kudos to Urs-B. Hauser, family & team.... looking forward to coming back...

Loved this hotel. Friendly, helpful staff and beautiful, clean, modern, comfortable room with stunning view of the Eiger. Enjoyed having a cocktail on the terrace in the evening and the room had effective air conditioning, which was appreciated on the hot nights. Only slight negative was breakfast - eggs / bacon were cold, but we very much appreciated the gluten free rolls. Staff were helpful in providing tickets for transport and the location was perfect for catching the train and bus, and for eating at the local restaurants. Hope to come again!

Dear Belvedere guests from the United Kingdom, thank you so much for having visited us this summer 2020. We usually have quite a high number of British guests, among them many regulars, however this year of course, all was different. We therefore highly appreciate, that you have been driving so far, to come and see us. We are happy to read, that you enjoyed your stay and we apologize for having service eggs and bacon cold at breakfast. As you have the intention to come back, please, should that happen again, tell immediately the waiter/waitress and ask for hot stuff to be served. If you read other reviews also, you will find out, that one cannot only eat well in local restaurants, but also at the hotel itself. Wishing you all the best and thanking you for the choice of the Belvedere, we remain with best regards Urs-B. Hauser, family and staff

I chose to stay at the Belvedere because the hotel I usually stay at in Grindelwald had delayed its summer opening due to the coronavirus situation. It was an excellent choice! The room was wonderful - light, airy, comfortable, quiet and with fabulous views of the Mannlichen in one direction and the Wetterhorn in the other. The food at breakfast and dinner was all absolutely top quality (enjoyed with lovely views of the Eiger either from the terrace or dining room) and the staff were all charming and attentive. The hotel had clearly taken care to make everything as covid-safe as possible, but had done it in a way that was not at all intrusive and in no way diminished the enjoyment of the guests. So now I know 2 wonderful hotels in Grindelwald and will be spoilt for choice for my next visit!

Dear Belvedere guest, first of all, it is a big pleasure to read, that you are visiting Grindelwald regularly. Thank you for your loyalty to our resort. In one way we are sorry for you, that you could not visit the hotel you are usually staying in, on the other had a big pleasure, that you chose our hotel as an alternative. Thank you so much for visiting the family run Hotel Belvedere and thank you for the wonderful review. Good news, that you also liked our hotel and great to hear, that you have the intention to visit Grindelwald again. Should one of the hotels be fully booked, you now have an alternative. We of course would love to welcoming you back again, but we consider it as normal, if you book the hotel again, in which you are usually stayed in. With best regards Urs-B. Hauser, family and staff

This is one of the finest hotels we have stayed in. The rooms are comfortable, well appointed and the staff are charming and exceptionally helpful. As a family run enterprise it is very much better than costlier chains. We have booked again for next year because it is so attractive and in an amazing location.

A skibus from the hotel is taking the guests to the gondolas, First or Männlichen. They are about 5min drive away from the hotel. Then it takes 30min with the gondolas to the top. The train station, going to the Kleine Scheidegg skiing area is 3min walk away from the hotel. Also there it takes about 30min to get to the top. This is by the way the same for all hotels in Grindelwald.
