Blackberry stuck on device setup

Hi Everyone

A colleague of mine was given a used Blackberry as a gift. It apparently worked for a few days and then went to the setup section and is wanting to conenct to a network. From my research (Google and forums) I see it's quite a common issue.

I have no way of identifying the exact model (it doesn't seem as if the battery can be removed) and Google Lens identifies it as a Z3.

Unfortunately when it was given to me, I hadn't used this model Blackberry before (and last used a blackberry years ago), I loaded airtime on the SIM (MTN network in South Africa) from my bank but when it says 'network connected' but didn't have an OK or Finish option, only SKIP, I skipped the the Wifi screen and connected to the Wifi, not knowing that the Ultimate Fix doesn't recommend this.

I have since read the forums and watched videos. The screen readrer turns on and works but when I get to the Wifi section is doesn't go any further (the screenreader doesn't mention a BB account etc)

I have followed the steps t power the unit off and on by pressing the volume buttons together. I've tried a few times and it's taken 30 minutes and still no change.

I have no idea what an autoloader is and which version to get and how to use it.

Is there a way to do a hard reset similar to android where you power on the device with the power and volume keys to do a factory reset? This would help even if I can get to a point of starting again and not connecting to the Wifi.

I would appreciate any assistance, I would hate to give up as I know my colleague was given the phone because she couldn't afford a phone and I'd love to help.

Thanks

DJ
