I have no doubt that this is accurate, lol.

Given some of the teams grace played on….oh my.

u/OutOfFawks avatar

Most hits in the 90s, he was trying to keep himself away from the slump busters at least.

By this logic I should be in the hall of fame

"How I Met Your Mother"

My all time favorite player.

One of my favorite Grace quotes/stories. My favorite player.

My favorite is when he tried to rip a fart during a game and “got more than he bargained for” 😂

It's not crazy if it works.

There is audio of it online that I actually listened to, lol.

This is not a joke? Got the source?

Google 'Mark Grace slumpbuster audio' and it's the first result.

True even outside of baseball.

And are people still using terms like “lay the wood”??

Lay the pipe nowadays

u/Televisions_Frank avatar

Wood bats in MLB. Can't lay the pipe.

This is the correct response

There should be like a slumpbuster app where absolute 1 or 0s offer it up for a pounding by some rich guy just for the sake of superstition

EPIC!!!!!!!!!!

He was my favorite Cub of his era. But he’s clearly not too intelligent.

u/mymeatpuppets avatar

Great ball player + misogynistic POS + pretty handsome = misogynistic POS.

He was my favorite player before all the underlying ugliness came to light.

I heard he was traded from the Cubs at the height of his career because he was banging Ryne Sandberg's wife and wouldn't stop!

u/slinkyfarm avatar

Grace was never accused of banging Sandberg's wife, and he was a Cub beyond Sandberg's retirements. I've heard Dave Martinez and Rafael Palmeiro mentioned, but it wasn't the height of Palmeiro's career and there was no height of Martinez's.

u/BasedSliceOfWinning avatar

Yeah, that was rumored to be Palmeiro.

Grace was on the team well past Sandberg.

You don't gotta take everything so seriously dude.

Damn, couldn't even at least call him a handsome misogynistic POS?

u/mymeatpuppets avatar

There is no doubt, he is a very charismatic, handsome misogynistic POS. I can fully appreciate why the chicks swarmed him...until they found out about the misogynistic POS part.

It’s pretty crude by today’s standards but this was well enough known a few decades back. I was in a particularly extended dry spell and we used to call it slump busting to just find anyone that would go home with you and so I went home with a girl I wasn’t too proud about. I met my future wife 2 weeks later and we’ve been married for 20 years. We toast to slump busters every year on our anniversary.

2nd only to George Bretts shit story…. Youtube it if you havent heard it before
