My time at Denton High School was a mix of enriching academics and personal growth. The best part was the inclusive community. The diversity among students allowed me to learn about various cultures. Teachers were dedicated and ensured our success both academically and personally.
Extracurricular activities were a highlight. Being on the debate team boosted my confidence, public speaking skills, and friendships. The sports programs fostered strong camaraderie. School spirit was always high, especially during homecoming, which united the school.
However, some facilities were outdated and needed improvements. The cafeteria food was also an issue, with limited healthy options and repetitive menus.
I’d love to see upgrades to school facilities and more diverse cafeteria options. Overall, Denton High School was transformative and prepared me well for the future. With a few improvements, it could be even better for future students.

Denton High School offers a wide variety of courses including advanced courses such as AP, Dual Credit, and IB. However, not all subjects, such as science, have all of these advancement options, and the standards within each program are not consistent between subjects, grade levels, or teachers. Grading is unique to each teacher and does not follow a consistent rubric for all AP, all DC, or all IB which prevents students from receiving a standardized education within the same subject and levels. Going from one Honors Spanish III course and having a C and switching to a different teacher but the exact same course and having an A shows just how extreme the issue is within such standards.
I just moved from Florida to Texas in the middle of the school year and it was scary at first because coming into a school in the middle of the year is a hard transition but the students and teachers made it a good experience. When I came all the students and teachers were very friendly and welcoming. They helped me find my classes and friends. Denton high school has been the best school I have attended so far because of the students, staff, sports, and opportunities.
