Iwatani Naofumi, a run-of-the-mill otaku, finds a book in the library that summons him to another world. He is tasked with joining the sword, spear, and bow as one of the Four Cardinal Heroes and fighting the Waves of Catastrophe as the Shield Hero. Excited by the prospect of a grand adventure, Naofumi sets off with his party. However, merely a few days later, he is betrayed and loses all his money, dignity, and respect. Unable to trust anyone anymore, he employs a slave named Raphtalia and takes on the Waves and the world. But will he really find a way to overturn this desperate situation?

This Season 2 is a bust.

With only 13 episodes for the Spirt Tortoise arc it's going as i thought... RUSHED. Training skipped, 3 Heros laziness skipped, character development skipped, Naofumi asking Risha to be his slave changed to Raphtalia trying to appease woke idiots....etc. The wave countdown stop and they are just like "oh weird" they dont even bring up the blue number its just totally ignored even though its a major thing. I hope to god season 3 isnt as horrible as this season. And for those who want to call me a hater i will call you living in denial. Season 1 episode 1 i was all in its episode 3 and im still like "Meh".

And just like Promised Neverland...

I'm truly baffled by what's going on here. With both Promised Neverland and Rising of the Shield Hero - you have a proven manga series and excellent first season that somehow get sabotaged by the animation studio. Think about it this way; we will likely not see Rising of the Shield Hero reanimated within the next 20 years to possibly our entire life time. We are stuck with these excellent series' getting absolutely devastated by horrible decisions made at the studio level to DRASTICALLY cut content down. If I recall correctly; we've skipped most of Volume 2 and 3 and jumped to Volume 4. That's nearly 50 episodes of content; skipped. Not only is this skip absurdly pointless, but the writing of the anime, pacing, and quality of animation have dropped into the toilet. I hope whoever directed this project / made this decision gets fired.

This is absolutely the best anime EVER!!!!

I loved watching the episodes it just got me hooked from the first episode and I cant stop watching. From the first episode it was so detailed and explained everything thoroughly, also I liked that it was 40 minutes long and just kept on building the tension. This anime is worth your time to watch trust me,you will love how the story line gets better and better. The main reason I love this anime is that the story line is just amazing, the main character is disliked and hated from the start, however the great thing is that he uses the hatred and becomes even stronger. This is the best anime I have ever watched and I cant wait to see the characters progress in the anime.I cant wait for a season 2. :D

Isekai JRPG but done right!!

The Rising of the Shield Hero being released at the same time as That Time I Was Reincarnated As a Slime is amazing in that we have the two of the best isekai animes in the last few years hitting us all at once. To those who enjoy that satisfying sense of progression seen in RPG games (New Skills, Leveling up, etc) in a serious, well written form I promise you will love The Rising of the Sword Hero. The MC is not some generic, cookie cut protag like most shows trying to capitalize on the rise in popularity of isekai shows. I can understand what he does, why he does it, and what he feels from the way his character was developed in the same way as many hit shonen shows such as HxH in that the character is introduced early and simply and it just fits together so well ill stop rambling just try it out man.
