I am writing this from an audiophile perspective. I realize that most people don't have access to true HIFI and therfore never really hear all of the information that is recorded on a disc. That being said, I found this disc to be just wonderful. If you are a Taj & Ry fan, this is a must have recording.
The recording/engineering on most odf the tracks is excellent and i could not be more pleased with it. There are some exquisite songs and awesome guitar playing by what were to become two giants of the industry. EXCELLENT!
p.s. I have also listened to this as background music on some consumer grade hifi equipment and it sounds OK at best.

I've always liked Ry an Taj. This is not bad, but it's before they really got their licks in. Still. It's like sex, you know? When sex is good, it's great. When sex is bad...it's still pretty good! This is history, and that makes it worth having.

I heard this gem a couple of decades ago and couldn't find another copy back then. I suddenly remembered it the other day and was wowed once again. It is too bad the band didn't work out but they were clearly ahead of the curve and mainstream wasn't ready for it. 10 or even 5 years later I think it would have taken off. In terms of technical ability Taj and Ry were not at the level they were now, of course, I mean how could they be. But they are clearly having fun and you can hear the strong roots of both of those two amazing careers to come.

An elusive, hard-to-find recording, the quality is a bit primitive on some tracks, but it is historic.

Material was interesting but dated. I look forward to the new Cooder/Mahal collaboration.

Interesting blend of guitarists and material. Both players have had storied careers as soloists and appearing with other artists. This is not music that received heavy air play, but if you're a fan of either artist, I believe it can be worth your time to give it a listen.

RECUPERADO UN ALBUM DEL 68
Reviewed in Spain on July 28, 2022

Reviewed in Italy on March 22, 2015
Una raccolta di diversi brani, che spaziano dal blues al beat. I due giganti regalano diverse perle, ma l'album non ha una propria coerenza: è un insieme piuttosto eterogeneo di pezzi.

A damn good beat combo.

If you like 60s blues bands,or Taj Mahal or Ry Cooder then you need to add this to your collection.Any album that starts with Statesboro Blues is worth a listen, unless it's really bad cos that would be just silly.I like the versions of Corrina Corrina and Mr Dylans "walking down the line".This is a decent mid 60s blues album. When this lot split up taj mahal went solo.
Ry Cooder next appeared on Safe As Milk: Remastered then went on to a solo career making some classic albums and writing movie soundtracks. He would later be involved in several world projects Buena Vista Social ClubTalking Timbuktu and has recently released a best of. The UFO Has Landed: the Ry Cooder Anthology .
I was fortunate to buy a 2nd hand copy for less than £2 including postage but I recommend it,a very good album.
