- Melvin UdallPasadena, CA123 contributionsMy wife booked this tour through TripAdvisor. The meeting point for this tour was at Via Plauto 17, 00193 Roma, Italia. Our guide was Norman, a very pleasant man who was very knowledgeable and passionate about history of the Vatican. The tour led us through the different sections of the Vatican (the Sixteenth Chapel, St. Peter’s Square, The Basilica of St . Peter and much more). The Vatican was an impressive and massive site and Michael Angelo’s work of art and sculptures were simply amazing.
The tour is the only way to gain access fast and quick (3 hour tour) and you get priority as you navigate the site. I do have to say there were way too many people in the Vatican at one time, which made it almost impossible to take great pictures, not to mention people from all over the world, some lacked the norms and customs some of us are used to. The tour company was clear about meet up instructions and got us on our way quickly. The Skip-the-line tour is a must. - StefanieU28Chicago, IL3 contributionsWorth every dollar. When you see the winding lines outside the Vatican you’ll understand the value of the skip the line tours. Our guide, Elisa, was extremely knowledgeable and showed and explained all the important sites. Everything was perfect from beginning to end. Wear comfortable shoes because there is a lot of walking but it’s a very good pace and lots of stops along to way to explain the many attractions.
What to say about Rosella our guide!! She was simply the BEST, very informative, always with a great big smile, took the time to answer our many questions, and knows her history of Rome to perfection!!
There was a bit of an incident at the end of the tour with a certain couple I will call “The Kirby’s “ ( not their real names)
First off they arrived late and missed half the tour, constantly interrupted Rosella when she was trying to explain. During the tour we did have some alone time, lunch break, bathroom breaks… we split up for a few minutes, and then meet up again, WELL, who were we always waiting for?? You guessed it The Kirby’s 🤬 poor Rosella having to put up with them.

- Ravi SBaltimore, MD50 contributionsAbsolutely amazing tour! It was easy to book. The instructions to get to the meeting point were very clear. There was a person waiting with the Maximus Tours sign, which made it extremely easy to find the tour. This was just the beginning!
We had Cristiana as our tour guide. She was amazing. She explained what was going to happen during the tour. Made sure all of us knew what to do at all times. She took us through the Museum and stopped at important points to show us some of the exhibits (sculptures, paintings, etc.). She explained the history of the place to provide a wonderful context for what we were seeing. She explained various aspects of the Sistine Chapel, St. Peter's Basilica and all the important sights both from a historical and artistic styles perspective. I walked away with a sense of wonder about the Vatican and its history! We had a great tour guide, she truly loved her job and she gave so much information. We loved this tour and loved the small group we were in. - Ethan J1 contributionThe museum itself was amazing, but the markup you pay for the tickets is crazy. These tour operators act as middlemen by buying up the online tickets and reselling them. This particular museum at least was perhaps worth it since the ticket line was massive and we probably would have had to wait in line for an hour or two from the look of it. The people we interacted with to redeem the tickets weren’t particularly friendly and also gave us tickets for an entry a couple hours later than we had booked. So overall a mixed bag. You might be better off trying to get to the ticket office early and buying one in person for a more reasonable price if you don’t want to feel like you’re being taken advantage of.
