DePaul University Reviews
Rating 3.77 out of 5 3,710 reviews
In my time at DePaul, I have yet to take a class I genuinely dread, even those far outside of my area of study. I've found the academic aspects of the school to be very engaging, and most professors are mindful of why students are taking their classes. In the beginning, I worried about non-major classes I was taking to fulfill a requirement, but those professors are consistently very forgiving.
The school does have educational shortcomings, especially as it pertains to any diverse subject. A lot of classes in the ABD department for instance are rarely taught, and their professors are nudged to teach the material in a certain more palatable way.
The housing on campus is fine, but not built to accommodate the student body. The school's decision to tear down housing to make room for athletics facilities doesn't help either. The administration is also very willing to ignore the wishes of students at times of unrest, like the security issue near the end of 2023 or the encampment of 2024.

Attending DePaul University was an incredible journey. From bustling urban campus life to dynamic classrooms, every moment was enriching. The professors' passion ignited my curiosity, while diverse perspectives in discussions broadened my worldview. Engaging in student organizations provided avenues for leadership and collaboration. Whether exploring Chicago's cultural scene or delving into academic pursuits, DePaul's vibrant atmosphere fostered growth and connection. The university's emphasis on experiential learning empowered me to apply classroom knowledge to real-world challenges. Overall, DePaul's blend of academic excellence and vibrant campus life made it an unforgettable experience.
This school's slogan is "Here, we do." They should change it to "Here, we arrest and brutalize students" or "Here, we censor our faculty" or "Here, we fund and profit off of violence." For your own safety and morality, do NOT attend this school. Your president will refuse to listen to you, administration will berate you, and you will end up paying an institution that ignores its students and faculty. This school claims to hold Vincentian values, but there is nothing Catholic about how this school operates.
