The creator of "Breaking Bad" and "Better Call Saul" is making a new series in Albuquerque.

Vince Gilligan is filming a new series in and around Albuquerque and employing hundreds of New Mexicans in front and behind the camera, the New Mexico Film Office announced on Monday.

While plot details haven't been revealed, Gilligan said the story could've been set anywhere in the U.S., but decided to return to New Mexico after the success of their previous series.

Gilligan said,

...I keep returning to the Land of Enchantment for the beautifully cinematic landscape and to continue working with the best crew ever. They've been making me look good for seventeen years now, and I figure, ‘why fix it if it ain't broke?’

According to the New Mexico Film Office, the new series will employ over 1,400, with 500 crew members, over 100 principal actors and 800 extras.

“Mr. Gilligan has not only showcased many regions of New Mexico in his multiple series made here, but his acclaimed productions have been an incredible boost for our local industry, workforce, and economy," NMFO's Director Amber Dodson stated. “We are thrilled to collaborate once again on a new project with the visionary Mr. Gilligan."

Besides returning to New Mexico, Gilligan is once again working with Rhea Seehorn who is starring in the new series.

You may remember Seehorn as she played Kim Wexler in Better Call Saul.

New Mexico Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham weighed in, releasing the following statement, expressing the state's commitment to continue this creative partnership:

New Mexico has proven to be an excellent creative partner for Mr. Gilligan. I welcome him and Rhea Seehorn back to the state. We are committed to ensuring the success of any production this creative and talented ensemble brings to New Mexico.

According to NMFO's statistics, the film industry in New Mexico has surpassed $1 billion in economic impact for the calendar year of 2024 through direct expenditures on productions and salaries for crew members and performers, as well as secondary spending at hotels, eateries, and other establishments that the industry supports.
