The teacher-student relationship is rancid 75% of the time, the other 25% are wonderful at their jobs. The air and water quality of the building is probably killing student and staff brain cells. The custodian staff deserves awards for the things they are put through on a daily basis. Students would rather sit on the floor of the disgusting classrooms than actually attend their classes because non-honor or AP courses are horrific. West's AP curriculum single-handedly keeps segregation alive. Most teachers suffer from serious mental health issues and are still probably making under minimum wage. Students are just as miserable. How this High School is one of the top in the state bewilders me. Get Help.
It’s a good school, very big and provides a lot of opportunities, but is lacking in a few certain areas like really get kids excited and involved in learning
Overall, I enjoy attending Madison West Highschool because of the quality of people (students and workers) and the quality of service it provides. In my opinion, the best part about my school is that it promotes a safe atmosphere among the attendees of the school by fostering monthly discussions about social problems within and outside of the school. However, I have a few hygiene concerns about my school the worst one being our dirty and constantly vandalized bathrooms. I really would like to see a change in the ladder area because the problem causes many students including myself to avoid going to the bathroom which can be risky or unhealthy.
