Here we are, folks, the moment we’ve all been waiting for — Ali is back in the Valley. And she has some plans!

Cut, conveniently, to Johnny and Carmen in bed together, both unsure of what to do given Miguel and such. After she’s gone, Johnny finally gets a reply from Ali, asking him to lunch. Don’t worry — this isn’t going where you think it is. “Feel the Night” is actually very smart in how it uses Ali’s reappearance. But we’ll get to that.

In the meantime, other subplots develop, as we see Miguel still hovering around Miyagi-Do and Daniel catching him kissing Sam, and see Robby wake up at Cobra Kai to a furious Hawk. Kreese, though, defends his presence, reminding Hawk that the enemy of your enemy is your friend. Tory tries to persuade Robby to stay.

Meanwhile, Johnny and Ali do indeed go for lunch, and while he tries to front at first, the facade doesn’t last long. He eventually confesses to messing up every meaningful relationship he has had, and she says she has made her share of mistakes too, including separating from her husband. He apologizes for taking her for granted back in the day. It’s a very nice, very natural conversation. When she asks him if he’d like to do something fun, it’s easy to get on-board with their relationship.

While Cobra Kai goes on a mission to the zoo to retrieve a gift for Kreese — another snake — and Miguel gets to know Daniel, Ali and Johnny have a good time at the arcade. They laugh and take pictures, and talk about their kids. Just as it looks as though things might go further, they’re interrupted by Ali remembering that she has a party to attend. She invites Johnny along.

Kreese is pleased with the snake, which Robby proved himself by retrieving when the others failed. He cautions the students about Miguel and Sam working together, which it turns out they are, parent-trapping Eagle Fang and Miyagi-Do to propose joining forces. It doesn’t look promising right now, but the rivalry has to stop one way or the other.

At the party Ali invited Johnny to, as soon as he arrives he spots her hugging Daniel. Not the best of starts!
