In addition to Portman, Lady in the Lake also features Moses Ingram in a lead role. Portman plays the Jewish housewife Maddie, while Ingram plays Cleo Sherwood, who is a mother navigating the politics of Black Baltimore while trying to provide for her family. The image featured hints at the unique relationship between these two women who navigate very different experiences. In addition to Ingram and Portman, Lady in the Lake features a leading cast including Y’lan Noel, Brett Gelman, Byron Bowers, Noah Jupe, Josiah Cross, Mikey Madison and Pruitt Taylor Vince.

Ingram is an acclaimed TV actress who was nominated for an Emmy for her role in The Queen’s Gambit. Portman is also a stellar actress, having thrice been nominated for an Oscar. She won an Oscar in 2011 for her performance in 2010’s Black Swan. Portman has not, however, been active in the television industry throughout her career. She had a role in the series Angie Tribeca, but it was a small role in a single episode. In fact, Lady in the Lake will be her debut in a leading television role.
