- My copy has the identical lp, but on the rear cover, reads ..."Manufactured by CBS/ SONY records, Malaysia..."
Incidentally, it is a very thick vinyl pressing and it sounds fantastic. - Had been eyeing this for a while and finally pulled the trigger. No regrets. This is one of those albums made for vinyl - quiet, warm, and an intimate showcase of Simon's talents from start to finish. First listened to this album on CD, but this vinyl blows it away. Get your hands on one before the prices are inflated.
- Edited 4 months agoPaul Simon's 'There Goes Rhymin' Simon' on vinyl offers a nostalgic journey into timeless melodies and poignant storytelling. The cardboard cover, while visually appealing, tends to attract dust easily. Despite this, the impeccable sound reproduction makes this pressing a worthwhile addition for both avid fans and newcomers, offering an immersive sonic experience that elevates the album's enduring charm.
- Hmmm… I just did an A/B of my clean Pitman OG (PAL-32280-2A STERLING) vs. this MoFI 1-Step. The 1-Step certainly had more openness, and the vinyl was quieter…but… on tracks like Kodachrome and Loves Me Like A Rock the OG had just as much punch and snap in the drums and that bass line at the end of Loves Me was just as tight and clear. Pauls voice was maybe a bit clearer on the 1-Step especially on tracks like Sunny Day, so with the separation and clear vocals it’s on the quieter tracks where this 1-Step outshines the OG. But… dang the OG really did more than hold its own. Love this album, and will enjoy the 1-Step, but the MoFi doesn’t just blow me away when compared to that early pressing. Rega P6, Hana SL MC….
- Hmmm… I just did an A/B of this exact original press vs. my MoFI 1-Step. The 1-Step had a bit more openness, and of course the vinyl was quieter…but… on tracks like Kodachrome and Loves Me Like A Rock the OG had just as much punch in the kick drums and that bass line at the end of Loves Me was just as tight and clear. Pauls voice was maybe a bit clearer on the 1-Step especially on tracks like Sunny Day. But… dang the OG really did more than hold its own. So… grab this copy and feel good about the $5 you just spent… glad I got my 1-step second hand… now I know why it was for sale
- The overall sound is nice, but this pressing is more noisy that I would like, especially in groove rumble during fades & intros.
- Edited 5 months agoI was a skeptic about MoFi Ultradisc, and have wanted to prove my scepticism for a year or two. But then one of my favourite albums came out on Ultradisc and I poneyed up a couple of hundred bucks. And boy was I proved wrong. This is by far the best sounding vinyl album I own (second is an original DMM Tracy Chapman, which proved that digital masters are not always wrong). This is truly eye opening in its detail. I personally find “was a sunny day” and bit twee these days, but all the other songs are standout. The best P Simon album this side of Graceland.
- This is an album that is so well recorded it sounds pretty impressive on most formats. This is a very controlled master that responds really well to being played louder where the dynamic detail can be fully appreciated. Good value..
- Excellent warm analogue sound. Superb soundstage with spacious placement of instrumentation and vocals. Terrific SACD.
